I have a pre 68 engine which I swapped into my 73 cruiser. The 1 barrel carb on it is pretty tall and with the stock air filter it doesnt fit under the hood. So I have been driving it around occasionally and running it without the filter on. Does anyone have any ideas about what I could do to remedy this and get a filter on and under the hood. Ive attached a pic of the carb its some type of rochester. Its only about 1/2 to high from what I can tell. Any ideas would be great, Thanks.

maybe some sort of long/wide aftermarket filter???

is there room to bring an elbow off and go to a snorkle setup with a remote filter?

I dont know how a snorkel is set up really how much room would I need?

Why does the later hood have more clearance?

see the bump?

Depends on how tricky you can be. Mine is tied into the 2F air cleaner so not much help...I have seen some of the (eek) chrysler products have very flat covers for the throttle body that your could tie into the carb, then the snorkle into that...i would assume around 2" 2.5" with those flatter style...

sorta like this...in like a junkyard...without the K&N crap...sorry for the J@%P pic...
