Adding AUX lights using the factory fog light wires

Let me know what you find Oregon. I ended up running that wire to the CIG lighter fuse, as it is a switched source. So that way I cannot leave my fogs on and drain the battery if I forget to turn the switch off. Would still like to have them come on only with the parking lights, that way I can leave the fog light switch in ON position all the time. Also completed the 10/17 mod, so I am 95% of the way there! Hopefully the hard work is over, and you'll find me a spot to plug that wire in that pulls off a parking light circuit and I'll give you an internet high five and call it a day!

This may illuminate the way to a simple solution;

Parking lights on with fogs' is standard in European models series 100. uHu from Norway, graciously posted a European wiring diagram.
Look at post # 91 https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/777109-best-headlight-bulb-market-today-5.html

I'm sure someone will be able to enlighten us all, on a simple step by step method for this minor mod.:wrench:

Note:
Part numbers for the European Headlight switch & fog relay is different than our U.S. model: See post #90^
OregonLC spotted a difference in the wiring, see post # 92^.

Sigh. Just seeing your photos of your 100 with fogs on with parking lights makes me shiver with excitement.

I had the fog light problem: My relay was missing all together and the previous owner knew nothing about it.

Had to get in the driver side kick panel and take a bunch wiring harnesses loose. Then had to reach my hand back behind it and feel my way to determine that the relay was missing. Then had to find the type of relay that was supposed to be there. Then had to about break my back and finally got it in.

My hands lost skin, my back was hurt, my body ached but my GD fog lamps are still workin!!!

Duck I just took that whole assembly apart yesterday to get to the fog relay. It wasn't that hard just time consuming to get all the connectors apart.

I was able to pull the whole thing out to access the relay. It went back together much quicker! All told maybe 1.5-2hrs working slowly. If there is a quicker or easier way I'd have liked to known about it!

Great thread but just wondering if there would be a K.I.S.S. Way of Using all new wiring for 130w lights and just tie into the wires in steering column used from factory switch. Maybe I'm missing something but I'd just like to use the switch not any of factory relay and wiring for lights since I'm going 130w.

So I just did the pin 17/10 mod, and it was super simple; took way less time than I thought it would. One note, which makes it even easier: The black and white wire right next to the pin 17 is a ground (I tested continuity). I just cut the end off pin-17, stripped some insulation off and stuffed into the what I suppose is pin-16 (the black and white wire next to it). Everything works exactly as it should, fog lights are on with high and low beam headlights. Probably a little easier than looking for another place to tie in, and no connectors needed.

I have recently bought a 2014 78 Cruiser with a replacement bullbar that was fitted before I bought it. It did not have fog lights in the bullbar, which I have now fitted again. Can anyone send me a picture of where the original wires connect in? ie is there a connector that was behind the original bumper? I want the lights to come on when the fog light switch on the stalk is switched on. Ideally this should only work when ignition is on. Does anyone know if the stalk switch wiring is "always on"?

what year is yours?
can someone confirm the 07lx has same wiring and i can do same prosedures?

so there's no way to make the fog light switch hot anytime without digging out the relay? so you could have the fog lights on without any headlights on?
the late 100 wiring is the same as far as pin 17/10 goes. That works normally for anyone wondering.

I will take a good look at my hard EWD 2000 copy when i get home because i also have a deluxe arb front and have the dangling fog connectors and want to add a small led bar or round driving lights.

My question is what is the part number for the fog lamp socket with connector? Or should i just make both sides a metripak??? Hmmm

Edit: 9007565010 is i believe the socket with plug

Has anyone figured out a way to use the aux lights with just the high beams? Is there a way to tie into the high beams at the column or setting up a relay at the fog lights to turn the aux lights on when the fog lights turn off?

That would be the elusive HID harness. Rarely photographed in the wild.
