So I have hit that point where I no longer remember where I got certain parts that are in the garage...

I am ready to finish the AC in the Pig and get it working. My Pig came with what I think is dealer installed AC. About all that is left on the body is the evaporator, drier, and controller.

I am working on getting a compressor hung on the 3FE (trying to ID what I have for compressors :3FE Air Conditioner (AC) Compressor ID Help Needed Please!)

I also need a new condensor. Maybe the one I have could be rebuilt, but it might be a better idea to start over w/ new if I can find...

To me it looks like the condensor with the elaborate tab mounting system came with my Pig.

I have not pulled the grille and tried to line up the hoses with the radiator support, but it looks like the more logical choice.

I have no memory of where I got the other condensor/ Maybe it is a factory AC 55 condensor?

Anyway - has anyone found a good replacement condensor that fits the existing holes (passenger side) on our radiator supports?

Maybe it’s still too early here or my reading comprehension isn’t good but I’ve read your question three times and I’m still not sure what you’re asking.

Are you looking for a tube & fin condenser that mounts to some factory holes or parallel flow condenser that can be adapted?

I’ve made a mount for one of these when I mounted my A/C and still have the drawings if you need to get one made.

Sorry, I will try to be more clear.

I was trying to do 2 things in this thread - 1) ID the condensers I had, and 2) find the best replacement to fit my Pig.

The more I think about it, I am pretty sure the condenser with the goofy tabs is the one that came with my Pig. When I got her, the engine was out, and the radiator and condenser were in the back.

I think the one with nice looking mount tabs and holes maybe came from a factory air Pig? I don't see any mount holes to fit that in my radiator crossmember.

Yes, looking to fit factory holes if possible. I am not picky on tube & fin vs parallel flow - whichever sheds the most heat and can fit what I have. It is going to be enough of a pain getting hoses made to go between 3FE compressor in 55 engine bay and new condensor and whatever evaporator is in there...

And yes, it would be great to get mount pics if you don't mind!
 
To me the black one in your pictures looks like an aftermarket tube & fin, I don’t know enough about factory Toyota 55 air to have an opinion on the other but I wouldn’t use ether one of those condensers unless I was (A) a glutton for punishment or (B) I was trying to restore a 55 back to 100% factory OEM parts and one of those came with your car.



I would check the second link I posted above and buy the largest condenser you can cleanly fit and move on, unless you’re trying to cobble a bunch of old A/C parts together for a specific reason you’re going to save a bunch of time & money in the long run just buying as many new parts that can be retrofitted into the system you’re trying to build.

I have no idea what the factory hole spacing would be. If drilling four new holes is out of the question then you will most likely have to have a custom mount made for you.

You want parallel flow if you care about size and performance, you'll want tube & fin if you're trying to make something period correct on an early A/C system.

Agreed. Trying to find a modern condensor to fit the Pig opening and tie in w/ 3FE compressor and mate that w/ the existing evaporator already in Javelina.
