Love it!

Funny how a Shiba will find themselves in so many pics. Mine did that but if you pointed a camera at him, half the time he would look away.

How far south did you make it?

You have probably heard, but on summer swells those breaks at Scorpion Bay connect. ;)

Cheers

I know this was waaaay back in the thread, but what steering wheel adapter did you use?

Thanks for posting! Love the Baja and have never felt unsafe there. Headed out Christmas Eve for zihuatanejo . Unfortunately I don't have time to drive it.

Some great hot springs in the mammoth area an the Alabama Hills are spectacular.

Need to meet up in the Baja someday.

Just saw the Craigslist post. GLWS. Such a cool rig.

Honestly hoping it doesn't sell, but I put it up for a crazy price just in case someone wants to pay for an already done Troopy. If it sold I would put the money toward more equipment for the shop and get started on building the same truck again. But I put it for a high price because the only way I'd sell is if it's worth it and I can get a return on investment for all the build time.
People don't bat an eye when they see a Defender or Synchro for 50K, might as well try with a troopy which is twice as rare and 4x as reliable haha. Broken down considering the engine, pop top and all the work done I don't feel the price is that insane. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Absolutely, I think your price is on point for what it is. Looking at how $$ just basic FJ80's are, I was more than happy to pay what I did for my 73 series

Seeing all the building that has gone into this Troopy is awesome! loved riding in it with the 12ht, no need for a radio with that beautiful sound. I'm bummed I left town before those epic seats! Sick bro! An actual overland rig being used for what is built for...priceless GLWS

Hi guys,
Here is my HJ75 1988 Trakka troopy here in Perth, Western Australia.
Seems exactly the same conversion although my roof tilts on one side.
Does yours have any braces/hinges to guide it up when pops? Are only the struts pushing and holding in place?
I’d like to transform mine like yours... looks so much better...
How does it do with strong wind?
Cheers!

Jack!

Nice looking truck! You have a newer version of the Trakka I think. Mine was originally a straight vertical pop top, but I switched it to have more angle. Mine has a stabilizer bar that wraps around the truck to keep it centered, instead of the hinges like yours.

Also, here are some updates and interior photos.
I finally broke down and bought new springs. $1200 later. The rear springs are over $300 a piece!

And I spent over $600 on a folding, waterproof, dual density foam mattress. Vintage tweed fabric too! Stoked to not be on the blow up mattress we had.

Your truck looks amazing.
I really like the mattress, where did you get it from?
Btw, I can’t see the structure that “wraps around the truck” would you mind to take a photo of it?
I’m thinking to change my roof to make it like yours 😉

I had the mattress made here in town from a local upholstery place. I couldn't find any premade ones that were the right size so had to have it custom made.

The structure is a bar that keeps the tent centered. Trakka used the bar on most of the vertical pop ups before they switched to hinges. Here's a better photo:

Oh I see now, I thought they were 2 extra struts...
So they don’t extend... mmm how is your experience in modify the fiberglass in the place where those bars mount? Do you think will be duable?
How is your roof with strong wind? (noise, sturdiness, etc?)
