Hey everyone,
So in preparation of getting my old 65 FJ40 back I purchased a 1963 Toyota repair manual from a used book dealer in Ohio. It was cheap since it was described as being in rough shape. Thankfully, its not that bad... but the best part was when I opened it for the first time. Nice folded in the front page was a bill of sale for a red 1965 FJ45 from a Chevy Dealer in SoCal in 1966! A picture is attached below. I am hoping by some crazy chance this 45 is on this board and it can be reunited with its intended rig :D ID numbers are on the paper. Serial number: F199554

It does show a License number ,so, maybe in California research can be done to reverse this number and find the VIN number ? If anyone has some access to DMV database.

Thinking this one through: a used "pickup" truck--if a Land Cruiser-- could have been either a short or long bed, manufactured in 1963 or 1964 or 1965, and been first registered in California or another state as a 1965 with a round brass or aluminum tag. Paint color "red" probably would be original color or could be a repaint. Document doesn't say "Land Cruiser" so maybe also a Stout if they came with an F series engine? So............this could have been a 1963-1965 short or long bed red Stout or Land Cruiser pickup truck?

Any thoughts?

Good point. Perhaps the book it came in was particular to either a Landcruiser OR Stout. Maybe red66toy can give more information.

12-29-66.
24 days after I was born.
This is cool!

Not my “red” ‘63 FJ45 SWB original engiine, just under 24k units later. But it’s just over 6k units later than the motor that’s in it now, and that has a ‘64 build date.

This would be an unbelievable piece of history to have. Interesting “motor no.” is listed rather than “serial no.” “Used” is checked too.

Hey all, I should have been more specific, the repair manual is a Factory Toyota Land Cruiser specific manual from 1963. That plus the F serial number made me hopeful it was FJ45 and not a stout.....

Bummer on the engine only serial number. Still holding out hope one day we can find the owner (slim as that may be now). :)

I am amazed it was already "used" only a year later. What bonehead traded it in after only a year.

Here was the other piece of paper:

Just noticed it says 6 cylinders :)

Yeah it's a 45 for sure

You have an address...who knows ...maybe the owner still lives there?

I actually put it into google maps, looks like maybe its not an actual address anymore. Bummer. Well I'll keep it safe in case anyone steps up to claim it. A cool piece of history for sure.

looks like the house is still there, looks like a duplex or triplex from above but could be single family.......sadly I don;t see a 45 ;) But that had to end up in Ohio at somepoint

Just looked at one of my old 45 sales contracts and found it interesting that there was huge price difference between these two trucks. This FJ45 was bought new in Grants Pass Oregon in October of 1965 and was $3105.00 before the added equipment compared to the $1945.00 for this one.

Heater was a add on for $79, what deal...
