These are some pictures of the cage in my pig. It was actually kind of hard designing a cage for a four door truck. In regards to keeping everyone safe, access to the back seats, and the possibility of adding the hard top back on. All four seats, and belts are connected to the bars. I would like to add a little more gussets on the front two hoops without affecting the head clearance. :cheers:Joel

well ya didnt change anything, and your not POTW, so these pics must be slight boredom?? but as usual, nice job, good lines, simple and effective

RHINO, I'm not quite sure what your saying? What is potw?

Short Bus,
That cage looks awesome! A cage is on my To-Do list, and that is a great example. Where are you located?
Wow, great job!
Chuck

PS I think POTW is Pig-Of-The-Week.

I would be concerned about the A and B hoops as they are going to the same angle. To me I think it would allow those first two hoops to bend back and then press the second hoops grab handle/latteral support beam into the rear passengers legs?

then again maybe im just being paranoid... ;p

looks good though... i also like the way to bob'd the rear.

Oh I get it now... Short Bus! You have a lot of time into that thing! Looks good though. I'm not usually a fan of the bobbed deal, but the integral rear bumper looks pretty clean. The cage Definately looks to be strongest over the rear passengers... Not the route I would go with my idiot friends in the back (they are all hard headed... and screw them anyways), but understandable if your cargo is kids and family. Actually I intend to leave the rickety 4-point cage, that came with it, in my pig. Hope I never need it.
Good work. Need some pics of it in action.

I would say it's POTM!

That is very cool:cool::cool::cool:!
What kind of running gear does your pig have?
Do you have a top for it?
Just wandering what other people have done....

Shortbus,

Like everyone else I am pretty impressed with your 55. Can you give us some more details? It looks like a regular spring over.... but you have a lot of room over those 38's. Are you using lift springs, blocks, etc. How tall is your pig? Could you get us a measurement to the bottom of the frame, and maybe to the center of the rear wheelwell. Thanks. I am just thinking I might have to raise my pig an 1"-2" and I want to see how people with big pigs like it.

Ryan.

Ryan, Your right there is more than just a spring over in there. It is a collection of different lifts that span the evolution of my pig. First was the 3" body lift which was cheat and easy to fit the 33" bfg's. Then I put in the 3" Man-A-Fre leaf springs and monster rock catching shackles. And last came the spring over, which is really what I wanted at first but didn't have the mechanical skills at the time to do.

To get to your answer in the long way! I am running a 3" body lift, that I couldn't take out after the big block motor went in. The rear Man-A-Fre lift springs in front, which moved the axle forward 1.5". And stock rear springs in back to keep every thing level.

The numbers on the center of the frame down is 24", and the rear wheel well is 9.5". I'm really happy with how the lift feels. My family and I have the privilege of wheeling on a lot of different terrain from sand to rocks. The lift is a little on the soft side for jumping at the dunes, but nice and flexy on the rocks.

In my honest opinion for anyone wanting to lift your pig! Do a spring over the first time, and save all that money that you would have spent on all the different lifts. Toyota built the suspension the right way from the factory, just a little to short! :cheers:Joel

MiniPigg, You are right about A, and B hoops. I am still trying to figure out the best way to beef-up the "b" hoop without making it a jungle gym to get in or out of the back seat's. I guess a little inconvenience is better than being pinned in. But it would have to one heck of a hit to fold thous bars down.

If you guy's have some suggestions on where to add some support support that would be great. :cheers:Joel

can you talk about how you did the rears up front?

This actually happened on accident! When I was doing the spring over I started mocking everything before I noticed I had the wrong springs in. But the stars aligned and everything fit. I just had to cut the front hangers off and move them forward 1.75". The drive line was lengthend for the spring over anyway, and there was room on the tie rods with the high steer arms. The only big clearance issue is with the front fenders, with my tire size there is a little rubbing. But I'm fixing that now on my other post. :cheers:Joel

moving the front mount is really not that bad considering you likely get more flex from the front now since the rear springs are longer... . correct? and a better approach angle... thanks for sharing the tech!

Yes thats correct, they are about 2" longer. Which would make me think they would flex more. The shackles are stock for the rear.

P.S. If you sell more of the East Coast Pig Run shirts let me know! I still dig the one I bought from you a couple years ago. :cheers:Joel
