Sweet. Look forward to learning more. And seeing some radio setups in other Hundys.
I can help you too. I have an SWR meter if you wanna meet ahead of time.

SWR is super simple to use. I recommend a Midland handheld and the Lil Wilson. Not cheap, but not super spendy. The only catch with the Lil Wilson antenna is that you tune it by cutting the length of the antenna. Just don't cut too much. CB makes sense for use on the trails and it is what is used. Hop onboard the train people ;)

Check your emails! Swag shop is up and running. Trail selection information is also communicated in the email. It’s all happening!
Wife and daughter are super excited to buy shirts fitted properly for women this year. Thanks for adding that option.

If you don’t have a CB, it’s a pain in the ass. Just cancel the trip for yourself..........so I can get off the waitlist! Lol 🤣🤣🤣

HAM radios are a really useful tool. Reality is that most people don’t need them. CB radios are great for the trails in this area. $100 in parts and a properly tuned antennae = a setup that works well for these events. I am studying for my HAM, but it will be a long time before I get licensed as I have to drive over a hundred miles to take the test since I live in a town in the middle of nowhere. I have way more fun things to do with my time.
I will be leading a few trails and I guarantee I will show you a good time, but it will be via CB radio. Put one in your truck, dial in the antennae, and come have a good time with me!

For what it's worth, I picked up a basic Uniden CB and a Wilson magnetic antenna that I used for HIH6, 7, and 8 and never tuned it and had no problems other than picking up other groups. Seems to me like as long as you have a real antenna, you'll be fine. Maybe dodge the handheld units and just go for a bare-bones CB box too?

This was my experience last year; just hooked it all together and ran it like that. Worked great on the trails for most part.

A couple questions I can't find answer to after searching the thread and webpage.

I see that I get one shirt as part of my registration. In the excitement and stress of registering, I don't recall selecting a shirt size with the registration. Am I just remembering poorly and it was in there? Do we just select the size we want at check in? I was getting ready to order official gear and wanted to make sure I knew what the heck I was doing.

Second question is related to meal tickets for catered dinner. Registration comes with two. If you need extra, do you pre-order or buy them at check-in?

Just a heads up. The HIH9 online store is open. We do not plan on bringing a bunch of extra inventory so if you would like extra shirts/hoodies/hats/stickers, please pick it up now. For us, guessing on how much extra to bring is a costly gamble so we really rely on pre-sales to let us know what people want. We’ve always had very satisfied recipients on the swag we’ve ever offered.

Please say something of you didn’t receive the swag email that was sent last Wednesday. Thanks!!

chris
