my 93 needs the two front exhaust pipes before the cat. it rotted right next to where the 02 sensors bolt in.ive looked online for a header for 93/94,but all i can find is for 95 up. my truck has 200k on it and the exhaust isnt all that hot looking. but id like tokeep it close to original rather than having it hacked together and not being happy with it .any help?

Buy new factory head pipes?

300 for new head pipes, id rather spend a few more$ and buy a nice header for it. thats my dillema

"Close to original" and "headers" are at opposite ends. Pick one.

by close to original i mean i could buy off the shelf parts down the road if i wanted to change it

As Dan previously stated you kinda have to choose. These are at far ends of the spectrum in relation to each other. What is your end goal as far as the exhaust goes? Stick to one or the other make a decision and abide by it, i.e. don't look back it just leads to regret.

Hi Dan,

I know this is a really old thread and hopefully you are susbscribed to it since I tried sending you a PM and it does not accept attachments. I hope you are able to help me with this inquiry, considering your extensive knowledge about LC's:

A friend of mine and former owner of an FJ80 (back in the mid 90's) found these sitting in one of his company warehouses. He says that he bought these for his 80 back in the day and never fitted them. He does not recall the vendor or the brand although he thinks they are BORLA, but caling BORLA customer service they tell me that they make no such thing. They are chrome, not stainless BTW.

I have searched far and wide for 1FZ headers on MUD and the rest of the internet and have not found any photos or much info at all, but for sure they are for the 1FZE as they fit the head. Now that I have them I may as well use them but before I proceed to install them I have a series of questions:

1. Have you seen these before or is able to identify the manufacturer?
2. Since each set of 3 cyl goes into 1 separate pipe, is it better to make a "Y" connector and continue with 1 exhaust line or to make 2 independent lines?
3. Assuming I go with a one pipe solution after the header, given the increased exhaust flow, will I have to use another set of cats or can I keep the originals?
4. Who makes good exhaust clamps?

If you can think of anything else please chime in. Thanks and regards,

When I read the original post I thought the same as cruiserdan. That you want OEM parts.

If you're looking for aftermarket headers and/or exhaust system we build custom exhaust and header systems for these trucks. You can see the headers here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/vendor-mar...mance-headers-land-cruiser-lx450-93-97-a.html

And the exhaust system here: http://www.emspowered.com/storefron...uct_info&cPath=61_119_120_121&products_id=344

When using these headers you'll need to modify your factory 93/94 exhaust system to meet up with the headers, or you will need to use the EMSPowered exhaust system. All of it is bolt-on and can be removed just as easily to re-install the factory parts if desired.

That is a vintage Downey Offroad header set. It was intended for the 93-94 models only. I bought a set almost 20 years ago and never installed them. I sold them close to 10 years ago.

Thanks!

Dear Dan,

Thanks for your reply. Now, is there a reason that it's only for 1993 and 1994? Do you think I could use them for my 1997, even with minor mods? Thanks in advance,

The 93-94 exhaust had side-by-side cats and pre-cat O2 sensors only.
In addition there was air injection into the manifolds.

95-97 has in-line cats, no air injection, one pre-cat and one post-cat O2 sensor.

Short answer: no, it won't work.

I'm gonna try to make it work...

Hi Dan,

Thanks again for your concrete reply. FYI, since in my country cats are not mandatory for vehicles 1997 and older I went ahead and eliminated mine a few omnths ago without problems, so that's one less worry. I was still planning to leave the holes for the o2 sensors, but only of there is any value in having them there to begin with. I am planning to blank out the air injection ports as well.

Once I have the work done I'll send photos so that you and the rest of the MUD community can see. Regards,

Just out of curiosity, will the later head pipe bolt to the early manifold if you do to a single cat?

yes, yes it will.

great...so does the single cat bolt up at the rear too or are mods to that part of the system required. sorry for the hijack.
