Here's the scoop, I bought a 1990 4Runner for about 400$ from a guy down the street, not a bad find! I am wanting to get rid of the 'saggy butt' but don't want to get a lift kit for everything because i don't want to do anything to the front.. Yet..

My question is: Where can I find a leveling kit for the rear of this truck? Is there a spacer for it? I have also heard about using fj-80 coil springs to do this..? Do they lift, level, or make it sag more? Thanks!

A new set of stock coils will get you out of the saggy butt mode. I went that route first when I bought my old '94, then I later ditched those and enjoyed the mild lift OME coils. I could be wrong but I believe 80 series coils will give you more lift than you want. I have to say though, there's no reason to need anything but a mild tbar crank on the front if you do the OME coils. Can't really call that a 'lift kit'...

Edit: or you could consider some coil spacers, that's probably the easiest way to go about it.

Do you know of anywhere specifically i can get some coil spacers? I have looked a bit but haven't really found anything that has caught my attention..

Did those factory coils sag a bit after a while?

No they didn't sag, I'm sure it takes years which is why they all look saggy now. I just went to the OME's cause I wanted extra lift (+1.5"). If I still had a 4Runner and needed spacers, I'd hit up 4Crawler here: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/CoilSpringSpacer.shtml. I know the site looks og as hell, but he's a good dude to work with.

Moog HD replacement coils would be perfect. Don't use 80 series coils! It would have the opposite problem you currently have: Stinkbug.

2" spacer from 4crawler. had it on my truck with a tire carrier plated bumper and it didn't sag.

Awesome. Those are the spacers i was looking at. Stinks they are $105 where the Daystar 1.25" are $40.. Guess ill have to use some of that birthday money :D

Alright.. Now I'm looking and being torn.. Inputs: Both rear coil spring spacers and the ball joint spacers, or just the coil spacers..? Anyone heard of any issues with steering, alignment, anything?? This is one reason I hate multiple choices :bang:

Ok, well there's that opinion, and then here's the other thinking. I ran ball joint spacers from 4crawler for over 3 years. I had no issues with alignment, and the only wear I had was my idler arm, which I had before the ball joint spacers. It was remedied with a idler arm brace, pretty simple. For me the benefit of the ball joint spacers was to un-crank the torsion bars while maintaining the same height. My ride was too rough up front and it worked perfectly as I had hoped.

Keep in mind you really can't just put taller coils or spacers in the rear, there are other things to do at the same time. Longer brake line. Longer Anti-sway bar links. Longer shocks. The axle will start to move off-center towards the passenger side, which might cause the driveshaft to hit the gas tank skid, so you need either a longer panhard rod, or a drop bracket.

First thing: I'm trying those Moog CC225 Springs, $60 for the pair.. From the reviews that were on Amazon it sounds like they are pretty good springs. Next thing that will be coming in if those don't satisfy will be the coil and ball joint spacers  I was wanting to get some new springs in the first place or at least blast the old ones and paint them.. This will kill two birds with one stone! I will post some pictures when i finally gather enough brains to bring my camera to the shop..

Correct me if I'm wrong, these Moogs are just a OE replacement and shouldn't be taller?

True, but he's not particularly trying to lift... is he? I thought the point here was to correct sag and get back to stock height, which would not need extended anything. In fact, with the sag that's there it's possible his pan hard is pushing the axle to the driver side, no?

Alright, i have got pictures but am failing at trying to get them onto the site. I have read some of the helps to do it but it seems tedious.. Any suggestions?

Are the pics on your computer? If so, use the "attach file" button at the bottom. Browse to the pics and attach. Make sure you select 'thumbnail' or 'full image.'

Funny.. You would think that i could figure that out.. I was trying to attach it by a picture. Anyways, didn't work but here we are!

This is a before shot with the 24 year old springs:

This is an after shot with the Moog CC225 Springs:

And a couple others of the size difference in the springs and the installation process:

Sorry all of the pictures are different sizes.. I forgot to take pictures with a real camera and ended up using my 'dumb phone' to take pictures..

The springs have a comfortable ride and they added a little bit a ride height and did a decent job in leveling out the truck, not to shabby for $59.99!

Here is a further away shot to see the leveling a little better..

Alright, next on the agenda: Sdori 1.5" inch ball joint spacers in the front and the Sdori 2" coil spring spacers for rear. Go for the spacers or should i do a real lift on it? Suggestions, input?
