86 fj60 with 35s without doing spring over

I'm wanting to put 35s on my 60 without having to do a spring over and axel cut and turn I have 33x12.50 on it right now. I really don't like how tall the 60s get with spring over. I already have the ome lift on it. Thinking I could put some longer anti inversion shackles and maybe a shackle reversal kit and some wheel spacers so they don't rub on the springs and get it up enough to squeeze 35s. Anybody done 35s with spring under thoughts/opinions.

Yup I did it.

I got a thread on here with the full build.

Oh ya, zero rub, no wheel spacers and absolutely no cutting of the body!

Cheers

@Elbert

Are those wheels 4Runner or FJCruiser? -- You have to use wheel spacers ?

Thanks.

17 inch FJ cruiser wheels I bought from dealer source that were pull-offs.

** I had some 4runner front calipers at the time....I think you would be ok with the stock FJ60 calipers...apparently there is a minor difference in thickness on the calipers between the 4runner and the stock 60. This is the part that was an issue...where the wheels site down roughly there by the brake caliper. I had the 4 runner calipers and these cause minor interference...so yes wheel spacers ( if using 4runner caliper, but I think you would be ok with 60 front caliper) no issues with 17inch wheel and steering linkage... again I did not have the 60 caliper on the front at the time. I'll look through some of my notes/posts. My problem was that I had another set of wheels and tires (non-stock)...priior to what you see in the picture and then I went to 4runner caliper on front before I got the FJ cruiser wheels.

need to canvass some other input on the FJcruiser wheels to make sure

There are threads on here of people who fit 35s sprung under no issue.

Hey mate, any idea which threads specifically? been spending a few hours searching/reading but havent found much info...

When people say "cut the fenders", do they mean the front, rear or both?

some pics would be good if anyone has some.

Cheers,

I ran 17” FJC wheels on my stock 60 and the passenger side tie rod end rubbed a tiny bit. I ran 1” spacers.

I’d recommend 1.5” spacers all around.

Unless you have an 80 rear axle, and minitruck hubs in the front, then it’s perfect.

I ran 35x12.5R17's on FJ Cruiser steelies like @Elbert for some time too.
Used 1.25" Spidertrax spacers. Nearly NO rubbing, unless I REALLY stuffed it.
Had the OME 4" Shackle Inversion lift, as well as REAL stiff springs OME springs under there.

But; for my own mental, I went away from them for 2.5" backspaced 17x9 wheels w/ 33X12.5's
They lowered CG, which I like... but I miss that good-good mudpie dig in that the 35's gave me.

Here's her on those 35's:

Necro Post is Necro...

But... know the backspacing on those wheels? I'm seeking that magic # ;)

3.65” Mickey Thompson Classic 2’s in black. Unfortunately I believe the wheel is no longer made in that BS.

Cheers

For anyone looking for 35's. I have a shackle reversal and old procomp lift. Tires are 35x10.5x15 on factory rims and everything clears nicely
