i am looking for new springs for my 85 solid axle 4runner. i have looked everywhere and no luck...i really do not want a lift but 1.5'' isn't bad..anybody know where i can get a new set of front and rear spring packs from????? a link would be great

what do most people repair sagging springs??

thanks

You can't really "repair" a set of sagging springs. Re-arching them doesn't last, isn't worth the effort to remove and replace them. Add-a-leafs are a band-aide fix, ride is terrible, and I don't think you can use them in the front. Longer shackles can get you by, but that will throw off your steering geometry in the front.

I'd say Downey is probably your best bet, but they just went out of business. OME (Old Man Emu) is one of the best out there, but you're gonna get about 3" of lift.

3'' of lift huh?...thats more than i was looking...is there no way to get stock springs without lift???...this a daily driver on its way to mexico and i would rather have factory height so it doesn't look like an built offroad truck that might catch the attention of a thief..if that makes any sense....i did a search and found an OME stock/light duty 2-2.5" lift from cruiser outfitters but it had a $1225 price tag...i want to believe there is a cheaper alternative but maybe not......

thanks

Well, if you're planning on expedition travel then you're not gonna want stock springs anyway, they will beat you up with a loaded vehicle. The OME springs are designed for expedition use, I have them on my truck now and I think they actually ride better when the truck is loaded. The 2" (50mm) estimate is very conservative, you would probably get closer to 3". Was that price for the Dakkar system? Did it include shocks, hardware, pins, bushings, shackles, etc? You're gonna need all this stuff.

x2 what KLF said. Click on my sig line if you want to see an 85 4Runner with the full OME suspension.

If you are desperate to go stock height then try Alcan springs. They can make them anyway you want them.

I took a look at those pics and I guess 3" really isn't that much...but wow the price is killing me but I suppose not as much as driving around with no suspension...ill have to shop around a little more but I guess it is what it is.....

Thanks for all the help

That $1200 price tag you saw is for their complete kit. The "budget/light" kit is around $775.

I just bought that kit and the install was easy. Direct bolt on. Lift is not huge, but it is about a 3 inch lift.

Actually, the springs I took off are Rancho's. They are about a 2 inch lift. I'm trying to sell them but haven't had any takers. The springs are in excellent shape, I just didn't like the ride quality.

bought the OME heavy lift kit....thanks for the offer though

I know this is old, but where are you guys buying the OME 85 4Runner complete lift kit from?

I need to order new front springs and some rear Heavy add-on leaves for mine, I will either be going with Cruiser Solutions (www.cruisersolutions.com), or 4x4 Connection (www.4x4connection.com). Cruiser Solutions is local to me and Tedd is a great guy, so I'm leaning towards using him.
