High pitch squeal in between when the wiper is on and moving and when it is stopped. Doesn't happen when you have them on high and they are not stopping, only when it is in one of the intermittent settings. It is not the wiper motor. Sounds like it is coming from behind the instrument panel. Any idea what it might be? some sort of relay or something that I could change out??

Noticed the same exact noise on my 84 on the slowest speed. I am guessing it's the relay but haven't explored it yet. My 60 is the same color if that matters ;)

It's the relay... sounds like a couple of alley cats fighting each other. Pull the relay and carefully open it up. Apply some multi-purpose 3 in 1 oil to the gears and the reassemble You'll be good to go for another 20 years!

Exactly what he said. ^^^^^^^^^

It does sound like cats fighting in an alleyway a few houses down. The solution sounds like something I could do....so I know what the relay looks like from looking it up......, can you tell me where it is located?

perfect...thanks!!!!

Awesome, thanks! I'm in Salzbergen until tomorrow...I'll check it out when I get home.

Maybe it's only early brown 60's that do it. ;)

gears in a relay? never would have figured on that one.

Always something new and useful in this forum...

Yet another issue I've encountered with another answer just sitting here on mud. Purrrrfect!

odds are quite good that a google search of "Fj60 __________________" will result in a list of Mud threads covering the exact same topic

Indeed — the F, J and 6 0 keys on my laptop are worn out. Good results every time.
