The wire runs through another bracket on the front frame cross member. And there is a hook on the fender to hold the shade down.

cool, you got the front back together, I wasn't sure if you'd be able to stop your self from pulling and painting the inner fenders but you did.

So, its the bumper and brakes still? Or are you gonna get the roof rack built to before you get it to inspection? I suppose you don't need to get it on the road as a DD or anything, so probably your only real dead lines are the trips down south in the summer I guess so you do have time to finish stuff with the productivity your capable of. Im definately envious of how much you've accomplished since you picked it up.

EDIT: the coating on those nuts and bolts is zinc? How well does it hold it up, is it costly for regular folks not associated with a powder coater? You must give them a light blast in the sand bin first or do they dip it in an acid bath or something?

Bumper weld tonight and send to powder tomorrow or Friday.

Transfer case re-build this weekend and brakes too if time permits.

inspection next week

Locker install, possibly at the same time as the brakes but I have to get the locker out of Coastal Kevin's 40 first.

Winch install. I have the cable and connectors but I need the crimper from Herb and new battery clamps (better style).

Roof rack sometime in the next 6 weeks but before Moab. The tool to bend the rail is due in any day.

Drawers, preferably before Moab. Have a design in mind, nothing fancy, but nothing on paper yet.

The coating on this batch is actually yellow Cadmiummum mum. To be honest its not very well done but it costs me very little. It would cost you more but not much more. He has a $60 minimum charge. I bead blasted these to get a quicker turnaround but he can take rusty old bolts and acid wash them, it just takes longer and he might charge more. I figured if I made it easier he would be nicer to my wallet.

Not sure how long or how well the coating will hold up, this will be the test as they get wet and road grime.

Coastal K has an aussie for you?

I didnt know you had to rebuild the t-case as well.

Its not a must do. It is leaking from all the gaskets and I want to seal it up. If I'm gonna tear it down I may as well put in new bearings too. It has some play on the rear output so it needs a shim in there. New bearings should tighten it all up. I have not noticed any issues and don't anticipate any gear damage.

I'm glad you're getting better battery clamps. I almost said something last night. Those temporary ones usually end up causing trouble. I went with military style on mine.

Then what will happen to this awesome thread?

He'll have to do a frame off when they fail him for the faded paint on the inner fender lip :-)

Thanks for the YouTube video-I've never seen one of those actually working.

I didnt want to be the one to mention that... But the cats out of the bag now I guess.

Actually, Kevin's list seems to be growing at the same time as it gets smaller, so its possible that he'll have a bunch more things to be done around and after the inspection.

Or maybe he could take a break when its done, then start another thread and then get cracking on his 45?

They are handy when working on the bench and flipping a part around. I can't seem to get them as tight as the regular vise grips and the big one I have needs lube or something cuz it doesnt like adjusting from thin to thick without a whack.

Great video Kevin, thanks. I've never actually seen one of those working-too cool.

Bumper welded and ready for powder. Almost. Welding it caused a slight bow out in the middle so I will attempt to straighten it at the shop monday. It sticks out 2" more than most because I didn't want to remove the factory frame horns for the factory bumper. Eventually this unit might get the factory bumper re-installed.

That looks even better on the truck than just drawings. Is that an aftermarket gasket set for a transfer case? Be real meticulous using it. I've had some leaks out of my set that looked just like that.
