Ambrew, between you and Kevin I really feel the need to pull my socks up, get out in the garage and get working on my truck.
Once the home renos are done perhaps I'll have more time.
In my defence, I'm south off Ottawa so my excuse is we're just slower than you guys in the city!

Thanks for the kind words! It's been slow here too. summer always comes with a plethora of other priorities such as renos, yard work and lake swimming.

No, I'm not part of true north, I keep meaning to join and then never find the time.
I know, excuses, excuses!
Anyhow, I'm hoping to be done with the major part of our renos late this summer so then perhaps in the fall I'll get some good work time on the truck.....

Keeping the thread alive!

The onslaught of summer has taken it's toll on cruiser time. BUT progress is beign made! I wasn't going to put any bondo inside the tub, then the perfection gug got me. I filled a few nicks and grinder marks where I would see them most. Then, noob mistake, I primered the fixes without masking off the rest. Now I know better.

So after much sanding, I got another 2 coats of colour in the tub. I'm pretty happy with it, but the dust specs are a let down. I'm thinking of having the outside paint done in a booth, we'll see.

The color is Heath Gray, from the LC colour chart, 1974.

I know now why people pay to have body work done. Combine that with a general lack of motivation and things are moving slow.

Also, had to fix the dump trailer due to hauling bricks..... not easy on the floor!

Patched up

Putty, sand sand sand putty sand sand sand putty sand sand sand and so on.

And finally 3 coats of primer filler. I've now sanded the outside with 400 grit, 600 tomorow. After all this work I think I will have it painted for the final coats. It would be a shame to have a paint job full of dust!

Hoping to be ready for paint by early October if work or the wife don't change my plans. The 40 has to be on the road by mid-May next year, so looks like I'm going to be spending a lot of time and money between now and then...

The Raptor liner was actually easy. I used wire trim tape and the edges are pretty clean! Didn't get the color quite right, but I actually like the slight contrast. Looks greener in the fluorescent light, but good in daylight.

Body mounts are here, so shoud get the tub on soon!

Actually, not that long.... I did it all in less tha 4 hours, including waiting 1 hour between coats and 45 mins before unmasking. I had to run to montreal for the weekend, employer wanted to do some training. Only stared at it on monday.

Awl teq, I loved all your vids of building a 45 bed! How many hours per bed do you figue? Nice machines too!

Installing rear floor mounts

So I've tried to find a writeup on this to no avail. this is what I did:

Place the tub on the frame, and see where it lines up. Mine were not centered.

These are from the Daystar kit. Drill with 7/8 bit just deep enough so when you use a spade bit, it wont wander.

I drilled deep enough to hide the head of the self tapping screw (#14 x 1") once it would be in place.
