Not much to update, just taking car of one small thing after another. spending a lot of time prepping the smaller parts for paint.

however......

It's like driving a hot rod..... be it a slow one! The only thing is the third gear is quite stiff to engage. Is this a common issue with new syncros or bearings? I will let it ride until i can get some serious kms in.

Had to grind the welds where the inner support would conflict. you can also see the tabs that I have replaced since not much steel was left there.

Fitting the inner support. I re-used the curved ends but had to blast them,

Its like deja vu all over again! I had to look twice at the pic on yer work bench, thought it was my pic.

Great work!

ah memories... Looks good Andy.

You already did!

Ha! I'd try my hand at that tig welder. The mig works nice, I like the flow you have achieved. I'm gonna be in calgary with some time of march 29-31st. Would love to see your 42 after inspection.

It's funny because you're both Kevin, and you both have just done your bibs.... funny on my end at least. kcustom's bib is all purrdiedup.... might go "trade" it.
:D

Andy, If I had the time, I would be more then happy to help out, but with spring fast approaching time is starting to run out :) BTW you're doing a pretty good job on your own.

Found a use for all those stupid thin wrenches you get when you buy a big set. Also a new windshield removal method....

What I'm up against:

Are these OEM or have they been added on?

It was tricky not to weld the sliding captive nut beneath....

DSC02070_zps8bb7fdda.jpg

needs a bit of grinding still. I bought an angle die grinder witht the 2" sander adapter - You need one for work like this! makes blending the welds a lot easier... Picked up that piece of info from Awl_TEQ.....

Looking good Andy.

I'm so glad that I'm pass this stage. I got the last of the bed liner in this weekend and I hope to shoot the Lizard skin on the firewall next weekend.

Thanks Kevin. I'm trying to get it all off to paint by the end of next week.... Still have the doors to patch, side panels need a little love, rear doors are ok and rain gutter need a lot of fixin...

Might come over and borrow your seam sealer gun. I want to use the more liquid sealer for the roof. what did you use?

Andy, your more then welcome to use the seam sealer gun. I haven't done the sealer to my roof yet but the stuff I got sitting in the box ready to go is SEM 39387 SELF LEVELING SEAM SEALER http://www.semproducts.com/product-catalog/repair-materials/dual-mix/sealers-and-foams/self-leveling-seam-sealer/

When you got your paint done on the body, did they wet sand and buff the paint? I'm finding I'm having a hard time buffind the paint and not leaving swirl marks. I'm at the point where I'm ready to pay somebody to do it for me. If you know anybody that's mobile and can come to my garage to do it please let me know.
