I have been unoficially looking for toolboxes for years. can never seem to find what I want. Recently, Costco was carrying this tool box and I liked it. So I waited until the unavoidable sale, not planning that I would be away for work and miss it. Woes is me, I was disapointed. Much reaserch later, I found this one at a liquidator near Montreal. It has a few dings and needs 1 set of drawer slides, but I got it for the sale price at costco but with no tax! Needless to say I'm quite pleased... I have to build a rack for it before my tools move in..

Taking advantage of the nice weather, I pulled out the gas tank. Soaked it repetedly in paint stirpper to get the rubbereised undercoating and gunk off, then wire wheeled it. A bit of sandblasting for the hard to reach bits and 2 coats of por 15. Looks better than new!

Got some dash bits in over the past few days, and the brakes are ready for bleeding. Also got the clutch and handbrake up and running.

Love the gas tank work Ambrew!

Mind you, all the rest is pretty good as well

At this rate your going to be done way before next spring.

It's always the small stuff that kills you.

I have hahahahah. Been annoying the boys on here for a while, our little venture started out as just a replacement engine....which continued on and on and on bit a lot of lessons learnt and for a pair of complete novices we've done pretty well, I'm about to post my new acquisition on here, my thread for the hj47 is putting a h diesel into a hj47 setup, I think......

Very Impressive Work !
Now that you have the tub off maybe look at the body mounts that bolt to frame below friver passenger seat ! Mine were raw hide and am rebuilding them now, I had already rebuilt my tub from door posts back in and out in stainless steel so I can appreciate the work you are doing.
Are you hot dip galvanizing the frame or powdercoating ?

Cheers

Hi Mac,
I sandblasted the tub and another poster in the thread made me look closely at those mounts. I just had to patch in some steel.

The frame is electro static urethane paint. It gets baked on like powdercoat. I was tempted to galvanize, but in the end, this will last a long time.

Wow, it feels like it's been forever since I've been here.....
Ambrew the rig is coming together really nicely, keep up the great work!
I used my beast to haul loads of leaves from the yard to the pile out back, does that count as working on it? Still puts a smile on my face to drive it though...I suspect the day you bring yours for it's first drive after all this work and you won't be able to stop smiling for about a month:)

Subscribed...for inspiration and motivation. I think I'm gonna need it.

I've been puttering on a lot of little stuff these past few weeks. Doesn't look like much, but the devil is in the details.

First off, found out that having the seats done is prohibitive to my bank account. Lucky me, a fellow mud user passed on some good karma and I picked up a set of new ccot covers for les than 200$. I'm waiting on some foam from atlassix to finish up the rear heater and then the cooling system will be done.

Fuel system is almost done, fuel filter coming and rebuilt injectors.
glow plugs were the wrong voltage, so trying to get some denso's fromt the states, proving to be tricky.
Bled the brakes, all is good save one connection, so a new flare needs to be done.
Painted batt. trays, air cleaner and vaccum tank
ordered toyota weatherstrip for doors and roof
started cleaning up small body parts
made new trans cover since first attempt was a fail. this one turned out way better.
cleaned up blower motor and installed
installed rebuilt heater box.
new oil in diffs
Covered the hard coolant lines to the back with shrink wrap over the old foam. Looks good!
new block heater - was a pain to find

Saw this in Santiago, has a slant six. apparently it's an 87'
