Chris, the only issue you might run into is the clearance for the dash..the ring should give you clearance inside the door not sure about the dash... if you are going to make rings and want to cover them with matching vinyl. I have about two yards and don't mind sending you enough to cover a few rings

Lou

I'm running 6.5 inch Boston Acoustics components at the front with a 1/2 inch spacer and it barely clears the dash.

What about a Scion head unit? Much better than the stock LX head unit, has iPod/iPhone integration (if you get the right model), inexpensive (got mine for $60), and appear as OEM. Here is my install thread for my LX450: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/531547-definitive-scion-hu-into-lx-450-setup-thread.html

Good luck!

Read through thoroughly a while back.

I think you should create completed harnesses and sell to the masses.

See a trip to the dealer to check out the Scion options, soon.

Appreciate the offer, Lou.

Going to wait until Tuesday and check out what a local shop has coming in that should be the same mounting depth, IF the magnet cover and tweeter are removable.

Shop was very surprised at the simplicity of the LX stereo I have, in comparison to the FZJ.

Even after explaining that the Nakamichi wasn't an option in the LX until +98, they don't seem to agree that this system was the only option for the LX 97 and older. Not that it matters.

I grow tired of the specialty shops dumbfounded looks when explaining that I'd be on board for a full blown, all out system, as long as I couldn't tell that anything had been done.

Must be the equivalent of requesting a boob job that no one can notice.

I don't think there's a high enough quantity of demand for me to mass produce them, but I'd be more than happy to put one together for you. If you go down that road, just shoot me a PM and let me know.

I know sacrilege to an audiophile, but for the sake of simplicity, ease, and timing.

Saw a set of BA 4x6 speakers that were very low profile at local shop, but guy said they'd no be an improvement. (while I'm holding these in my hands

Go figure)

Could clip the tweeter, and it'd go, with a little bend to the tabs.

Bad idea?

I'll be in for the harness.

Thread poses more questions than answers, but I'm easy and want green lighting to match interior with iPhone interface. Trying to determine, then off to eBay.

Edited: and can't bump for updates, either.

If you want green lighting then you need the 1806 model like mine. I believe it's the only one that's iPod/iPhone compatible and has the adjustable color.

Off to eBay, then.

Already went the route of swapping LEDs out for the sake of continuity, in the FJC dash. Not wanting to do again.

Haggling on two eBay offerings.

So, about this harness. Are you interested in completing another one?

Yeah, definitely. I can either go ahead and get the parts and assemble or I can give you more detail on the parts and how they go together. Totally up to you, I'm glad to help either way!

I'm interested also....I have a 97LX450 and currently has the factory sound system, I plan to simply install aftermarket head unit upgrade speakers...just not sure where to start with the harness, I messed with it a little and had no luck, I could get power to my new head unit but could not get any sound through the speakers so I stuck the factory unit back in it, it does work just not very well....

I'm in for the completed harness and definitely want to compensate for the efforts.

did you unplug the factory amp? if you install a aftermarket H/U you need to unplug the amp its on the passenger side right behind the little dash speaker

Does this hold true even with the Scion?

Is there any difference for the LXs?

This is true for the LX with a Scion HU. See my Scion HU install thread in my signature. It outlines all that is required.

Also, you lose the function of the dash speakers and the factory sub in the console...but I couldn't really tell much of a difference in sound quality at all. The little sub was worthless.
