today my headlights stoped working completely out of the blue, no low beam, no high beam, but the high beam indicator turns on even when the low beam is selected.
My car is a 79' non American version.
I checked the fuses and all of them seem to be in correct order.
I appreciate any help you guys can provide.
Thanks

Hey doing some research on the wiring for the headlights I discovered that the issue was on the Turn Signal and Dimmer Switch, one of the tabs was getting stucked to the high beam position and that caused the high beam indicator to stay on always and dont allowing the headlights to come on.

here are all of the schematics for the fj40 models:

I’m going through a similar problem myself right now with my ‘83 HJ47.

In my case the high beam indicator is not coming on at all. Looking at the EWD I noticed that the headlights go through the turn signal indicator switch, so that is where I’m planning to look next. Thanks for posting your experience. It helps bolster my confidence in my troubleshooting thus far.

Was it difficult to access the turn signal switch to diagnose your problem?
