Dude, do you have a YT channel? I think I watched several of your vids for getting this '40 up to snuff as reference material. Love the outcome, and that paintjob / stripes are sweet!

Did you get rid of the gas smell with those mods? I have a '78 and my fuel evaporator was broken (one of the ends were snapped off, epoxied it back together). I replaced all the same stuff as you (hose wise anyways, and added a charcoal cannister back in), but I still have a bit of lingering fuel smell. Probably need to replace the evaporator is my guess.

Strap in and hold on to your hat bud, you’re in for the time of your life.
I can’t wait :D

True words.

You’ll make mistakes, don’t worry about being perfect. Just worry about being a dad.

And don’t forget to take care of momma too.
Thank you! Mom and baby are both the center of my attention. It’s crazy how much stronger our bond is after he was born.

Yea, I documented basically all of the work on YouTube. Only missed the head gasket job & and carb rebuild! The fuel smell went about away about 80%. I think the old cars just emit some fumes no matter what when the tank is inside.

Congrats!! Enjoy this special time.
Thank you! I got a month off work to do just that :)

Finally got around to taking the hard water spots off the windows. Some 0000 steel wool, blue magic metal polish and lots of elbow grease!

I also did a quick pass on the inside to make them crystal clear. Well worth all the work!

Thanks for the tip! I'm keeping the OEM glass other than the windshield in my rebuild and have been scratching my head on how to get rid of the hard stains. I'm excited to try this. Looks like yours are back to new!

@MAR FJ40 no problem! Glad this info helped

Here’s a better shot I took showing how much was on the glass. I swiped it lightly with the blue magic to make it show up on the camera. Top right corner outlined in red is a section I cleaned.

Looks great. Blue magic delivered today, looking forward to trying it out. Thanks again.

2 coats of Rain X on the outside and 2 coats of FogX on the inside - I do mine in the fall. Plus I spray the door gaskets with silicone so the don't freeze shut in the winter. WD 40 in the key locks and the hinges to wash out the crud then dry lube after it dries in a few days

Man, that’s a fantastic job—looks like it just rolled off the showroom. Meanwhile, mine is still rocking the full Colorado mud patina. I’m torn… keep the ‘archaeological record of the trip’ intact, or try to make it shine like yours. Either way, I feel like I’m betraying someone—Mother Nature or Mr. Clean.

Excellent work as always. Cheers
I vote to make it shine! You can always get it dirty on the next trip 👏
