Reinstalled the intake, and hoses... After I replaced an old dirty fuel filter I had my wife do the honors of starting the ole' girl back up, and it sounded awesome... The 2 1/2" magna flow glass pack give it a nice deep tone...

Front axle work:
Brake lines, High steer installed, front steering knuckles rebuilt, hubs rebuilt (New bearings and races, new drum shoes, and turned drums.
I will be converting this wagon to 4 wheel disc / hydro boost brake system down the road. For the time being I bought new shoes (All 4 wheels) and had the drums turned. I've never had any problems running the old stock 4 Wheel drums, so it should work fine for the time being...

Doug and Bryan have spent the last few days stripping the old paint and rust off the body. In the next few days I will be shooting it with an epoxy primer surfacer, and working out any of the remaining highs and lows. I have already filled in all the body holes that I will not be using: Chevy side view mirror mount holes, CB antena (Passenger rear fender), Reverse light mounting holes (I'll be using the original reflector housing as my new reverse light mount), front turn signal holes (New front bumper will house the turn signals), and a few rust holes that need filling...

Where did you get the brake line "T" fitting? It looks like it mounts on the axle housing and cleans things up nicely!
I would like to redo the line on my front axle.
Where did you source the line? I have heard it is somewhat difficult to find the correct fittings...

The t-fitting came off of the same 74' FJ55 wagon axle... I'll do a little digging to get a part number for you.
The hard lines came from Napa Auto Parts. Ace hardware has a great assortment of metric brake line fittings...

Brake drums turned.. Bryan stripped the outside of each drum and painted them with a little black heat paint. I told him not to worry about cleaning them up since I will be installing disc in the future, but after he finished them I'm glad he did...
Today I finished the brake system, Doug changed the axle, trans, and transfer case gear oil, and we took this thing for a quick test drive....
This little F engine is producing great power, and the steering system works great! Unfortunately with all the upgrades, the drum brakes really stick out as the weak link... SOON!
I still need to set the carb, but then she'll be about ready... Valves have been adjusted, timing set, new NGK plugs, fresh oil change, and new fuel filters....

Heading to the woods next weekend! Can't wait to put the old pig through a few hurdles!
what paint are you going with. Cant wait to see some color on this beast. I was helping my dad the other day shop for a truck, and we drove a f150 echo boost. It was a goldon bronze and pale adobe color. We both thought it would make a really cool fj55 color. If you put the bronze on the bottom and the adobe on top.

I like the color combo!
The Wagon is going to be shot with a 57' Chevy Turquoise, and a gun metal grey. The roof, hood, and if you were to follow the apron width body lines down the length of the wagon, these parts will be shot Turquoise. The botton half of the body will be shot with the gun metal grey, and around the side window frames....
Hard to explain... Time will reveal all!
