hey there. this is my first time on a forum so I'm not sure how this works but I was looking threw your photos and I happen to have a 1962 FJ45 that was my great great uncles and I am in the middle of cleaning it up. I am having a hard time finding a roof to the cab is mine is in a little bit rougher shape then we think we can fix right now. the rest in in great shape. everything runs pretty good. idk if anyone here can help or not but any information on the truck would help a lot or were I can get parts?? right now I am in the search for some weather stipping for the front windshield and the back split window. and of course the top to the cab. I'm not sure how to get any photos on here but when I can I will show what I have. THANKS in advance for any help given it is all appreciated.

Welcome Hunter, the split back window rubber has not been available for a while. Your front window rubber as well has discontinued. A good glass shop can help with the front. They can use a 1966 front window rubber with some modifications. Lots of good information here on Mud. Pictures will be appreciated.

Welcome to the madness Hunter. You will certainly find plenty of help here. @whitey45 will be a great resource! If I remember correctly you have to post 5 times before you can start uploading pictures. I look forward to watching the progress of your work. BTW we also enjoy a good back story as well as pictures. But pictures are a must. Around here the saying is " if you don't have pictures it didn't happen"!

the roof cap is different on a non-removable top model than the removable top model.

where are you I this great state?

if close you can stop by and look at mine.

Awesome!! Thank you all for the info. So far I have got a new windshield frame from Colorado. The truck is in Montana and it was my great great uncles. He used it for lots of things but over all the truck is in great condition. He was one of those ones that said if it still runs then you don't need to do a thing to it. So before he passed I told him I was working on the truck and his words were 'that thing worked just fine when I gave it to you' haha but anyways he had painted the entire truck with a thick house paint. And believe it or not the things hardly had any rust issues so far. As soon as I can post some pictures I will forsure. I have everything off the frame and the frame is in great shape. I'm working on a few clean up things with the engine. But before the start of this project. I drove the truck multiple times. We use to drive it as kids and it has allways been a fun vehicle. I'll be the first to admit I don't know a lot about this truck or vehicles in general but am learning a lot as I go.
Again any information is greatly appreciated and pics will be up soon.
Thansk!!!

it’s been a long time since I’ve been on here. I have been super busy working on this amazing truck.
Like I previously mentioned this truck was my great great uncles and has been in the family for near 60 years. It has come a long way as you can see but I still have a long ways to go. My biggest struggle is window seals for the wing windows and rear sliding
1962 FJ45 located in MT. Not original motor but same 2F engine from a Japanese FJ45 fire truck. Lots of history in this rig and if only it could tell the stories.
im learning something new almost every day and appreciate any info or guidance I can get.
another mission I’m on is to find the color code for the red lettering for the front Bessel.

Amazing! And jealous 😆. Looks like a 1F. Did you rebuild the roof or find a replacement? Looks like it had a pto winch, trans tunnel shows a cut for the pto shift. Dang, I keep scrolling through the pics. You cut the old window frame off and welded a different one in?

10k more pics 😂 please (interior, seats, etc. etc.)

Thank you all for the great info!!
yes it has a pto winch. It’s a Ramsey PTO-1
It works but I will be rebuilding it soon to clean it up. It’s a 2F and the original roof was trashed as a tree had fallen on it at my great great uncles cabin. He then had the local body shot fix it as cheep as possible which also meant a plexiglass windshield. 😆 I was fortunate enough to find another FJ45 in the idaho area with a little better roof that got rebuilt. This one is far from perfect but I’m not going for the show room truck just want to clean it up decent and drive it some more.

Oil filter unit next to the carb and the tall thermostat housing tell me it’s a 1F. Other things (albeit that can be swapped in place of) like the valve cover and the hand pump lever on the fuel pump also point to an early 1F 🤷‍♂️. 1F (F135) was original to this rig.

That fixed windshield replacement looks amazing!

Thanks for that. I appreciate the info as I am still learning with this rig. I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know a thing but have been trying to teach myself as I go. That is very helpful knowledge!

Truck looks great.

Here’s a post about the bug catcher rubber:
