I picked up a 60 series factory FF rear axle. And I am gathering parts to do the IFS front hub/brake upgrade on the front. Does anyone know if there is a set of hubs that fit the rear FF that move the wheel mounting surface out like the IFS hubs do for the front??? I tried searching and didn't come up with anything.

Here is the FF axle and hub.

at the risk of sounding like Captain Obvious, while not giving you a direct answer because I don't think what you're describing exists... use wheel spacers?

Lol. I agree 100% that is an easy solution. I just thought if I could buy a set of hubs for the same price and have 6 less bolts to have to torque I figured I would do that.

I had that FF rear axle on my cruiser. It wasn't available on USA 60s. As far as I know there's zero aftermarket parts for it. Can still get seals & bearings from Toyota though .

I figured that. I just thought maybe some other Toyota hubs would fit.

I believe you can still get aftermarket axle shafts for them.

I haven’t seen anyone do what you’re describing but it wouldnt hurt to try IFS, 40/60 front, or 80 rear hubs. Maybe one of them will do what you want? Definitely post up what you find.

Another option is a complete 80 axles which is 4” wider overall WMS

I think if you want to keep it simple your in for 1.5” spacers. to match the front IFS hub width.

If you could borrow an 80 series set of hubs but don’t think you could run them unless you changed out the drum brakes to convert to disc. At which point, you’d be better off going with an 80 rear most likely.

Not sure the answer your hoping for is an easy one.

I will try to get an 80 hub to see if that fits. I have the IFS one and can tell you it is shorter than the FF one. Does anyone know if the 80 hub is longer?

Matt do you have a set of 80 rear hubs? Would need to see what the back of the hub to WMS is and back of hub to axle flange?

Can you think of anything else that would be needed?

the only one i have handy is mounted on my truck and that measurement is difficult all assembled with a wheel installed,
I will have a complete 80 rear FF axle delivered to my shop on a pallet monday or tuesday though.

and duh, I completely forgot about the brakes. That's probably going to kill you on this whole thing. with that in mind i'd probably just go with spacers or sell the 60 FF to someone who wants a nice bolt-in and get a FZJ80 rear

I don't think you said WHY you want to move the rear hubs out? Are you converting to rear disc brake? I have 4Runner calipers on the front with a 1/4" steel wheel spacer.

I also have that FF rear on my 60. All parts available, including hubs. Not in the USA so much (SOR has them), but easily obtainable bearings (same as front axle), seals, studs, etc.

The FF does already have a disc brake conversion on it, so brakes are a non issue.

I was thinking that if I was going to buy wheel spacers, why not just buy a different spaced hub if I could find one that fit. I am doing the IFS conversion on the front and just was hoping to get the rear to match track width.

@Spike Strip thanks for bringing up the bearings etc. I need seals, all the bearings are good. Is that the place to order them? SOR?

You can get all the seals and bearings and gaskets from Toyota still. No need for SOR honestly. What seals do you need exactly?

@cruisermatt if you wouldn't mind when you have an 80 come in next week would you take some measurements and pics?

I was gonna replace the wheel seals and the water seal(on the outer rear of the hub) if that is what you call it?? Since its all apart.

Ok here are some of the main seals for the rear FF (Anyone feel free to fact check these). You would need one of these for EACH side.

Get these from your trusted parts source :)

What is your front axle? I know you have a 40, is it a 40 or 60 front axle? If it’s the IFS hubs on a 40 axle then the 60 rear is already the right width

I’m doing a 40 right now, 40 front axle with IFS hubs and 60 rear axle to match

I had a donor 60. So the axles and suspension under my 40 is from the 60. Springs, shocks, power steering, etc.
