60 grab bar - non USA

[Butt Ugly Chuck]

This install is too simple to warrant its own thread, but here goes anyway....


Bought one of the brown grab bars pictured below from Lynchmob a few months ago (sorry, he's out of them now)

I cut the leather pad off, cleaned it up, and hit it with some rattle-can black.

I decided to do a rope-wrap handle. Didn't get any pics of that process, but if you've ever wrapped an oar or wrapped guides onto a fishing rod, you know the drill. It's described well here

Rope-wrapped and ready to go

Took the glove box out so I could get nuts on the backside



Put some tape on the pads so I could hold the assembly up to the dash and stick the pads to it for locating the holes to drill




No turning back now!




There's a double layer of sheet metal to drill through on the left side because of the dash support



Some small fender washers on the back to prevent it from ripping out of the dash when somebody heavy grabs the bar



Button it all back up and she's done!



It ain't fancy, but I like it!

One from Lynchmob (that's all he had), one more from SOR. They're just plastic though. It'd be easy to make your own.

looks good, My wife loves hers. I took a wheelskin leather steering wheel cover and cut it to fit and i used a bicycle intertube for a pad.

I got one pad with the used bar, and ordered the other from SOR. I ordered the hardware from them too (except fender washers sourced locally). GLFHFJ60 though said in another thread recently that the pads were no longer available from SOR. I may have bought their last.
