I completely understand all of your points. I damn sure want to sign up for hih6. Thing is... I got my 100 the weekend before hih and really wanted to just come up one day and check out all the vehicles and get great advice in the flesh. Since I live here in CO, I think I'll just send the 100 down to SLEE next Spring after the snow melts. I really appreciate this forum and HIH is an incredible event. I didn't mean to come across as negative or judgmental about the event at all. Talking to someone about their rig is just a whole lot more fun than reading posts from years back.

Cruizin

Where in CO are you located? The Risingsun4x4 Rally and swap meet is next Saturday in Golden CO. There should be several 100s in attendance.

@Cruzin00, and anyone else looking to spend your money. I'd strongly urge you to revisit the first post of this thread to see the list of vendors who supported this event. This is the BEST 100 series event in the entire country, and I will go out of my way to support the folks on that list.

If you can't already tell by Stan's reply, the organizers go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and throw an awesome event.

Stan, don't make it too big next year! I've been to lots of events and the small numbers at HiH makes it truly special and unique.

For all of those who left sometime on sunday, just a starter for now!
We were only about 7 or 8 trucks left spending the night till monday morning, around 6:30pm this showed up in the sky right above our camp and it actually turned into a double rainbow after a few minutes! Probably only about 4-5 trucks there at the time to see it.
What a great time!

^ Huh....... there are mountains around camp? Who knew? All I saw were drab gray clouds and rain. ;)

I think I have 6 photos where it wasn't raining. 5 of them were taken right here and one was taken Monday as Chris and I were leaving.

Thanks Ben. We're looking forward to having you and your awesome family back again.

HIH will never be too big. We've already scouted a few alternatives in town that will give us better and more options. We even discussed taking it back down to 10-15 trucks in a small setting. We feel there is room to grow, but still stay very small. We sold out immediately and filled up camp by Thursday afternoon. The best case would be if we could continue to hold the event right in Ironton, but that is difficult. If we're going to grow, we need a better option in case of rain. We want a place for folks to gather under a covered tent or building. This all *could* work right in Ironton, but we're not able to secure/reserve the entire lot. What if we rented a huge tent and potties and when we arrived in Ironton, there is an RV and RZR meet-up and we don't have enough room to set up? It's tough to balance a quality, well-planned event and make it relaxing, small and intimate at the same time. Especially in a public, primitive camp setting.

HIH5 was the tipping point and we discussed going in either direction for HIH6. We've decided to try and make it a little more convenient and organized for the Pot Luck and Raffle Night going forward. With that being said, if HIH6 proves to be too much work, or expenses are too big, we'll downsize in later years. We will never be the FJ Summit (which is a great event as well), but we don't want to turn people away either. We also don't want folks going rogue and just showing up. There's a happy medium and we'll do our best to find it.

HIH5 was phenomenal. No one complained about the rain. Everyone found a nice spot to camp. The raffle went great. Even the impromptu trick-or-treat style Pot Luck was awesome. That's affirmation that this event is perfect for bringing people together and sharing good times. We were only able to get one late night campfire session going, and even that was in the rain. It didn't stop the fun though, it just ended it a little earlier than we're used to. We're a hardy group and a little rain isn't going to wash away positive vibes and great attitudes.

Feedback is great and we welcome it, good or bad. Bad feedback may be more important than good feedback. If we did something wrong, or could improve in some way, please let us know. HIH6 will be the year of options. That will really solidify where we go in subsequent years.

The campfire burned hot until about 2am. The sky even cleared for a few moments.

I am the lucky winner of the front bumper from Dissent. What a generous donation to the raffle, so cool. I am greatful! I already had purchased a DIY front bumper and its still in the box which I am now selling for $400, and buyer pays shipping. Its for a 98. I will post it in classifieds if nobody wants it here.
Sold the bumper.

Hey everybody. I'm a little late to the parade but I finally edited and uploaded some of my photos from the trip! Just want to give a huge shout out to Chris and Stan. I came up super last minute but met some awesome people and had a killer time, everyone was so friendly. Definitely going to be back next year locked and loaded with an arsenal of film equipment!

STOKED for next year.

We would love to see or hear about the Land Cruiser stuff you were able to get with your winnings from the HIH raffle. How did you spend that gift certificate, what bumper did you choose or just a picture of a recent upgrade you did based on something you saw at HIH5. Thanks guys.

Is there a date set for HIH6? I have been watching this thread closly because I would like to get my name on the list. Is there another place I should watch for the date?
Thanks

its usually around late july/early august. I doubt a date will be set before January though. Just watch the 100 series forum from time to time. Sign up usually opens early summer.
