Best gas mileage I've gotten since all the upgrades! 16mpg adjusted from flagstaff to Durango!!! See you guys soon

Thanks! heading to NAPA see if they have it. if not we'll go from Telluride to Montrose and try to dealer!

@DanInDenver
As luck would have it, I have a set of these that are supposed to show up tomorrow. I'm up in Denver, since my rig wasn't ready to join the trip. If you can get someone here to bring it down tomorrow or come pick up it I'll hook you up.

Y'all have a good time. I passed a couple of your group last night at about 10 pm at the end of Monarch Pass. Two nicely built 100s, one with a trailer. I passed you in a sweet Buick LaCrosse Hertz rental with NY plates. I go back and forth to Crested Butte in the summer and my family stays all summer. My LX570 is my CO vehicle. Wish I could join you this weekend (but I am not a 100 and have my own 4x4 playground)

Have fun and be safe.

Wish I was there! Have a great time guys! (but double check your e-brake before tackling those steep downhills... )

Can't wait for the photos to start rolling in, hope you all are having a great time.

Wow, quite the turn out! I should be able to make it out there next year. I'm living in NM now but currently in Singapore...

We left Friday evening due to Red Sox Cruiser having altitude sickness. As we were leaving the rain was coming down hard so I'm not much surprised that the "road" had given way.
After running Imogene Pass, I personally think Black Bear is for the foolhardy thrill seeker. I'm a bit biased from a fear of heights, but the exposure on some of those trails is terrifying, and the reality is that the smallest mistake will likely cost a person their life.

We had to leave Friday after Clear Lake due to my son getting altitude sickness, as well. 3rd trip for him and the first time this has happened.

Got a message Saturday there was a roll over with injuries on Black Bear (not from our group). Hope Stan doesn't mind me saying this, but he deserves some accolades for being there, and being able, to help. He had to drive down and pick up the EMT, then drive up Black Bear backwards so they could reach the injured party. Completely awesome if you ask me!

Maybe the roll over had something to do with the closure.

According to the post on Expedition Portal linked to above:

Reports say the couple from Florida arrived at the trail’s famous “steps,” and decided to turn around. While navigating around a rock in the trail, the driver said the embankment gave way and the vehicle slid off the road before rolling several times, coming to rest on its roof. More than twenty responders from the local Search and Rescue team as well as EMS, Fire and Sheriff Deputies were on the scene to conduct the 90-minute extraction of the injured parties. Lined up behind the scene were more than 100 vehicles.

Stan's a great guy, and he does deserve credit for what he did, particularly if he drove the pass in reverse.

Thanks to all who offered help on sourcing a stabilizer bolt. Ran without this weekend and all was well. I am ordering parts from Beno this week.

Great weekend, equipment is in the garage drying out. Sorry for those who had to leave due to the altitude. HAM radio played a key role in assisting with the roll over and coordination of EMS.

Some teaser pics, will post more in the trip report.

That last photo gives about the best perspective of what the drop-offs are like on the roads. The PS tire was literally on the edge of the cliff as we went through a narrow point heading up to Imogene Pass.

Any word on if the couple that rolled over was from the HIH group? Pics??
