My 55 seems to run better when I bring along the ol 3lb drilling hammerAhh but what you need is one of these to make the whole experience Toyota. LOL

Cruiser _Guy, if you want to get started pick up some 3/8 and maybe some 5/16 drill rod, oil hardened or harder if you are a brave machinist. The rest is straightforward. I am a real thing no joke, mechanical design Engineer i.e. I could send you an Engineering drawing and all, we could go hog wild with it I don't know. Lets wait and see how much interest maybe make a bunch for everyone. The real trick is in hand reeming the hinge knuckle. If you want you could start there. Be careful though. I ended up 7/16 before getting it right. So what I am saying is use the material blanks to reem to final size before hauling off and making a bunch of undersized pins. A better picture is attached.

Well I'm a design technologist so a engineered drawing is something that makes sense to me. I don't know if folks will be interested unless they know the cost per pin or cost per door. I'd assume that it's the same as a greaseable spring pin or spring shackle, am I right? I've got a couple of spare hinges so I could have them sent out and done to come up with a price.
I can have them do most anything as long as we can communicate!! It's also significanty cheaper to machine stuff here.

............nice but will stick with my old Lincoln manual; it can get into some of the tightest holes, flexible can be a good thing sometimes<

WELLLL......you may have to drill the center section if the kit bushings don't press in easily. I've got two more hinges to repair today or tomorrow; I'll take some pics and post up details for those of you that aren't going with the machined/greasable pin route.....

I really like the idea of using a kit with a specific pin that is made for a hinge. If you can post up maybe a seperate writeup on the process of using the napa kit above that would be awesome!
went by napa and got the three kits they had but the bushings that come with the kits are too large an OD to fit........went ahead and ordered some oilite bushings pending cruiser guy and rsbcruiser getting the greasables made up.......would still go ahead and order a set of greasables but my doors need help now;

I sent an e-mail and I'm waiting on what exactly he's done so I can instruct the machine shop here. It looks simple enough but I'd like to be sure before I screw up my spare hinges.
My assumption is that the pin is a press fit into the top and bottom bore of the hinge and that the center is bored slightly oversize and is therefore free to move. The pin I assume is bored down to just over 1/2 way and then bored from the center out so the grease injected at the top comes out in the center bore. A grease zerk is tapped and threaded into the top.

I'd be interested in the greasable pins too 
Although it's a little messy versus the oilite bushing/ pin idea, this would be a stronger solution Greasable bolts could be another option......

Bump for greasable hinges! I'd definitely be down for that.
No-Mine pressed in withouut drilling or reaming. I used a vice to press the bushing into the hinge. I then had to drill the bushing out to fit the pin from the NAPA kit. Hopefully I'll have time to do my other two hinges tomorrow and take some pictures to post up.
I am up for that as well.
I bought the NAPA kit Sat. I will look into doing a writeup sometime this week.
I need to repair my door hinges as well...please let me know if something becomes available!

I am going to start a hinge repair thread couple days now I hope, Any of you guys want a set of greasable hinge pins like now man. I was thinking bkf40 or Trollhole or someone who hasn't started their hinge rebuild yet. I will send a finished set, you pay post after your mits close around them. That way, you could follow along, provide clarification as I go. Takers? You will probably have to shell out $ 40 or more for your tooling. Skill level is up there with some machinig and precision handwork needed, a drill press and good drill vice a must I think.
