:popcorn:Lookin good/familiar! Better enjoy the fun part while you're at it! Its always great to see the BIG progress before it begins to slow down to a trickle.

Thanks, I'm sure I'm going to have a few issues here and there. One of which looks like the exhaust on the passenger side. Tomorrow I think we'll look at the electric fan I plan to use and figure out some type of shroud. we may get into installing some of the radiator and front end stuff tomorrow, depending on what kind of progress we make. Anyone know the auotmeter part number for the tach that will fit in the land cruiser dash (replace the OEM tach)? Got to figure out where the oil cooler is going to mount and hose that, then the p/s cooler and hoses. OF course then the wiring at some point. Got to send off ECM for "programming" to turn off some features.

Nice work, might want to put a small pie shape guesset on top of the frame to the new mount to help spread the load.

Personally I did like the factory and heated and bent part of the motor mount over top of the frame to capture two sides of the frame.

I just got the Autometer 2 & 5/8" tach with black finish from Summit Racing...Looks like an almost perfect match for the stock instrumentation! I like my rigs to be "sleepers" hence my name.

Yea, we talked about maybe adding some type of gusset to the top, that would connect the top of the back side of the frame mount (frame side) and tie into the top of the frame. May look at that tomorrow. I'm not sure how stressed these mounts are. We have 360 degree welds on the scab plates and on the frame side mounts. As you can see by the pics, there is about an 1.5 inches of the mount that extends past the top of the frame. Its an easy modification to add "strength" to the passenger side mount. I think we might run into clearance issues on the drivers side, due to the steering linkage.

I'll talk with my friend further (he's the fabricator / welder) to get his view. I would rather make any changes now, rather than later since its somewhat easy to get to now.

13 Jan Update.

Connected the wiring on the trans for the 4wheel light and reverse lights, connected the speedo cable and ground at rear of trans. Was going to connect the clutch slave cylinder but we've misplaced the bolts, so we have to acquire a couple more. Looked at the cooling situation... I think the stock fan clutch out of the yukon is to close to the radiator, so we are going to run the 4 core radiator with a 16 inch SPAL electric fan and SPAL controller. My friend fabbed up a shoroud / fan mount for the rear of the radiator. I think its going to work fine, we'll see what the temps do. Installed the 5speed shifter & knob along with the shifter boot. Installed new spark plugs, rotor button and cap. Removed one of the heater hose hardlines at the firewall. We plan to do some simple modificaitons to the heaters hoses such that we can adapt those to the 5.7 vortec setup. Looked at maybe installing another electric fan in front of the radiator to "push" air through the radiator more on the passenger side of the radiator but I don't think that's going to work because there is very little room on the front side of these radiators, and throughout the grill area we'll see if something works out. Right now the SPAL fan is offset to the dirvers side of the radiator a little bit to clear the water pump, and the fabricated shroud covers about 1/3 of the radiator that the fan does not, towards the passenger side. Left the house this morning without the camera, so we'll show some of the "hightlights" later. On the agenda next time is to install new rear heater hose hard line and hose (parts I had acquired previously), talk about what we need for the fuel pump setup, try to see what will work for radiator hoses (anyone know off hand?) We can proceed with the front end install (grill, condensor, trim). Will try to mount the engine oil cooler in a decent place. May get the P/s cooler and hoses setup too.

WAY TO GO ELBERT! Sounds like you had a good weekend on the truck! Summit racing mr.gasket stainless flexible hose kit. Buy the 48" set up and get 2 extra couplers. Works great and looks cool.

I know what you are talking about Randy but I would like to see if we can get a "molded" hose to work. The Stock hoses are very close, but the diameter is wrong (yukon hoses). I think I may use the hoses I have that are to small in diamter to use as a pattern and run by NAPA and see what they have. I would use the hoses you are talking about if we have to. I'm a little bit of an @$$ on some things, and have to explore all the options before I settle on some things.

It looks like some of these heater hoses are odd-ball anamials too. Not 5/8 or 3/4, I guess some metric size.

YEP ODD BALL. I use 1/2 and 3/4 it fits but not perfectly. I had a PN for that bottom hose at one time it was a flexie but the ports were the correct size. I will dig it up tonight when I get home.

More work finished

updates:

We made a a little progress today. Use the bottom radiator hose from a 98 yukon which we cut up and it works for the bottom. Still looking for something to work on the top. May have to resort to a "flex" hose until we find something right. I did see where moroso makes a radiator hose fill adapter which goes from 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 , just what we need to work, I may buy this and weld up the hole where the radiaor cap goes. Anyway the water neck on the engine takes a 1.25 hose and the neck on the radiator takes a 1.5 hose. We installed the shroud, fan, part of the front end, engine oil cooler, p/s cooler, part of the p/s hoses. We also looked at the air filter setup on the yukon and see what its gong to take to work on the yota. The air intake housing just barely clears the hood. I'm waiting on hoes and fittings from Summit to finish the engine oil cooler, and to plumb the fuel lines. Looks like getting some of the heater hoses to "mate" will be fun too. Getting that *$&%^ shifter boot installed back on the trans gear shifter is a real fun job, at least mine was a royal pain in the @ss. May try to get the exhaust done on Monday since I'm off that day. Should be able to get the SPAL fan controller installed, add fluid to the trans and TC, install the wiring harnes, install the ECM bracket, install the air fitler housing, finish the front dirveshaft install and re-install most of the A/C parts over this weekend, at least that's the goal for now. We don't have to run around chasing parts so we should be able to make some progress. Also plan to get the heater hoses fully setup up, and install the plug wires.

We tried one from a 98 Yukon. On the bottom it worked fine (after cutting some length down). On the top it fits tight at the water neck and loose at the top radiator neck. It looks to be 1.25 at the neck and 1.5 at the radiator.

Maybe I got a wrong hose or a screwed up one. I think the brand was gates. I believe the Yukon, Tahoe, and pickups are all the same on configuration under the hood. I'll go check out the part numbers to see. I'm runing the stock GM water neck

We solved the problem for now by using one of the autometer guage adapters that installs in-line with the radiator hose. I'll post some pics later one. Once again I left my camera at home this AM when I left to work on the swap.

I'm close to running. Need exhaust, fuel plumbing, and ECM programming, + misc hoses (oil cooler / ps hose / fittings). Small list in comparison to when we started.

We made some progress yesterday. Istalled plug wires, engine wiring harness, throttle cable, air filter housing, A/C hoses, new hood cable. If you are looking for some spare parts or other stuff I've removed you might want to check out the for sale parts listing.
