I saw a bellhousing adapter for this swap, now i have a few questions. Im very familliar with the wiring and everything with the engine. But how strong is the toyota tranny? also does anyone make drop in mounts? i will make or modify my own headers, not a big deal.

The truck is a 85 solid axle carbed 5spd with 35s, you can only use the first 3 gears really. What gears should i go with? also the e-lockers seem like a good deal as a brand new center section with gears etc.

My main concerns are with the mounting of the engine, and the strength of the transmission.

I cant seem to find too many people whove done this swap who have anything to say.

Do *NOT* use that W56 or G52 tranny. I simply will not last. If you want a Toyota tranny, you'll want to look into the R150 or R151. Better would be a AOD, I think.

Ahh thank you, thats what i was looking for, i wanted to use the 5.0L t-5 transmission, as i have a freshly machined flywheel and clutch for it, and i know it can take power as it lasted a 12.9 in the quarter with slicks and 180hp of n2o ontop of that. And it looks like advance adapters makes an adapter, it pretty pricey at $750, but would be worth it to me.

I shouldnt have any steering box issues or oil pan clearance issues should I?

What gears do you guys reccomend? with 35" tires stock axles and the t-5 tranny?

No idea on that one. When I installed my 4.3, I put it as low and as far back as possible and did have some tie-rod to oil pan problems w/ high-steer. Nothing major, though.

I'd guess you'll be fine in the 4.10-4:56 range.
