Ok, now who spent too much money, got caught by their spouse and now has to sell their kit to me?

I'm really good at asking for forgiveness. :flipoff2:

However, I may not survive what I have planned for Moab. :grinpimp:

Was wondering when your front and rear bumpers were going to be ready for the FJ cruiser. I have clearance to get them in the next couple of months and wanted to wait if possible to see your design....

thanks

rob

Hey Kevin,

Has that last bit of stuff come in yet from Luke? As soon as it is in I'll come up and get the Alvin's and my bumpers.

Shouldn't have a problem in the 80 with the middle seats down right?

Ross

All of the 80 stuff is here, you will have no problem fitting it in the truck, even if your going to get Mr Baggins stuff. Pick it up when your ready.

Very cool. I'll make some arrangements and come either Wed. or Fri. Thanks Kevin.

OK, I am probably :shotts:, but I just picked up Alvin's and my bumpers yesterday. Thanks for the storage Kevin.

Those bumpers are beefy and heavy. Everything associated with it incredibly solid and well cut. Did I mention that it is heavy? The cuts are very clean and the overall fit looks really good. I think a couple of goofs like Alvin and me can get it put together. I think we will be Luke's test pool for how ignorant you can be and get it done.

On a side note, I had two bumpers in the back and the OME 864's didn't budge. I'll be curious to see how they behave once mine is installed.

Good lookin' stuff. Do they make anything for 40's?
Just bought some new "high tech" welding rod yesterday and can't wait to get going on my DIY project. Otherwise I'm going with IPOR And the local steel supplier.

Have fun building & looking foward to some pics. John

I was peppering Luke with questions about his rear bumper kits for the FJ80, & he suggested I fly this quesion by you folks.

About how many hours are you finding that it takes to assemble the kit? I realize cruiser owners come from a wide range of backgrounds and we all have different shops & tools so there is bound to be quite a range in the amount of time it may take.

I am just trying to get an general idea.

Alvin and I just finished his. Neither of us are expert welders (especially me), and we were using his Miller 220 welder.

That said, it probably will take most of a weekend to cut the oem bumper off, get the wings, shell, tow hitch, recovery points and spindles together. If you don't do much grinding it will go faster.

It took a half day or so to get the arms attached to the spindles. It takes a good day to weld both a tire carrier and can carrier together.

I would budget about 4-5 days or two weekends with some work during the evenings. If you are experienced it will probably go faster.

EDIT: Alvin and I did mine in one weekend. Worked about 6-7 hours on Saturday and about 5 hours on Sunday. Alvin had done about 3 hours of work during the evenings.

I feel for the guys waiting for the sliders.....not a fun experience:rolleyes:

Hopefully it fits, then I can beat it in MOAB:D

Wait what? lol...

Was there actually a bumper that took over a year from that last group buy?

Actually well over 2 years. Mine and Ross' have been done and installed for a year. It took 9 months from time of order till most of us got ours. 2 guys were left high and dry and one of them cancelled. The other waited and just got his. So like I've said before, group buys on stuff like this require patience.

I just want to say, it should be patience + vendor communication (with REAL update).
