Well I had an adventure om the way home. I made it over Ophir in an hour starting at 6:30 and didnt see another person. I then headed down to Silverton and picked up CR 2 for the Alpine Loop. It is very scenic in there lots of different types of terrain. When I got to Animas Fork I followed the sign for engineer pass and it didnt take me the way I intended, I wanted to go the other way, not through Poughkeepsie. I went over California Peak (beautiful views) and ended up at Como lake and Poughkeepsie Gulch. So I took the bypass and thought I would pick up engineer that way and continue on my plan. Then I popped another tire. Good thing I carry two spares. At that point I changed my tire and carefully made my way out to the closest exit on the Ouray side and drove the highway home. Good thing I had certificates. $75 to replace both tires and one only had half tread on it. Also really glad I got the 13 gal tank so I could carry 2 spares

A few shots from the Alpine Loop

Hey Ken. We missed you on Sat! Glad you made it home safely! Thanks for the pix.

I know a few folks are leaving in the am. I'll be around and definitely want to do another run. Are group times going to be as scheduled? Any others have any specific plans for trails?
I think we are starting at 8:30 am.

Yeah, I’ll be there to help coordinate but am not sure if we’ll be able to join the run depending on timing.

@vapilotda is leading a group of 4 over Ophir and on to Clear Lake today. I hope everyone has a great trip home!

We had a nice run up Ophir Pass and on to Clear Lake. Both trails are beautiful.

A special thanks to Cody and Cole for organizing the event, and to the sponsors Slee Offroad, ARB, and Elite Landcruisers.

I’ll be heading back east tomorrow. Safe travels to all.

Thanks again to Cody, Slee, Cole, Todd, and all others who spent the time and effort putting together this great event. We had a blast and really enjoyed spending time wheeling and hanging out with old and new 200 fam. Already looking forward to the next one!

Totally echo Dan's comment. Kudos to Cody, Matt, Jackson, Amory, Todd and the fun and cool people we met - George & Alexandria Dan & Cory, Tony, Mike, David & James, and so many more. What a great place to play with our toys.

Hope to see you all again next year and/or at Turf N Surf in Pismo Beach. You think high mountain passes are fun, wait until you let that 5.7 V8 loose in the sand dunes!

Cheers,
Jim and Katherine

P. S. Katherine made me hike to the top of the ski resort today ..

Huge thanks to any and everyone who assisted in the planning and execution of this event! It was extremely rewarding to partake even as an "outsider." It was great to put so many faces to names here on Mud. I'll never forget our speedy, yet rainy, ascent of Imogene with Mark and Ken R. And clearly I'm indebted to Matt G. for allowing me the use of his LX for my week's travel and the ability to tag along in his Cruiser.

As for those insane mountain bikers, here's a story on the Telluride 100 from the local paper: Telluride 100 blasts off Saturday

Yes, they began by going "backwards" up Black Bear before hitting 550 and then coming over Ophir... and that's just part of Loop 1.

Thanks to everyone that helped to put this on (Cody, Cole), and to the sponsors! The get together on Wed was a blast! Thanks Todd and Elite Land Cruisers! Was really disappointed that I couldn't stay for Slee's dinner but had a two day drive and work on Monday so I had to bail on the fun.

Here are some pics...

I was one of the guys you chatted with - nice to meet you and thanks for stopping by. How was your drive back to Alabama in the 40?

Just made it home about an hour ago. Luckily it was uneventful and I had zero issues with the 40. It was a long trip, but so worth it!
