Most supercharger kits including the Harrop kit are $6-8,000 with a tune uninstalled, so probably $7-9k installed. Gears alone are around $2.5-3k installed, with lockers that jumps to around $5-6k. There's trade offs for both and having re-geared vehicles in the past there is no replacement for displacement, if you felt your vehicle was gutless stock and you add gears and 35's it still going to be gutless. Personally to push 35's I'd rather pay the supercharger fee. If I'm spending $3k for gears and I can get a supercharger kit for $7-8k I might as well go supercharger cause last time I re-geared I kept eyeing the supercharger anyways. Comparing stock tires to 35's it's only a 230rpm difference in 6th gear @80mph in the end, with our torque curves you're talking a 20-30Nm gain at the engine when you re-gear. That's barely enough to really make a difference when a supercharger would net you 100Nm+ @80mph with no gear changes with a 30% gain in performance which is fairly conservative with this size supercharger. I've seen a lot of folks builds here...$7k is barely a dent in their spending on the rigs, clearly people will pay what they value, for me supercharger>gears all day long.

If they’re going through the carb approval process, then it is coming here… which would be awesome. I love the Magnuson on my Tacoma. Makes it feel like a real truck instead of a minivan.
Not only is it a “while your in there”, but the front gears require the arb carrier.
S/C would be cool but I’d still rather have 4.88 gears and the reliability of the stock 4.6

With all due respect and I DO love the idea of S/C's, I'm also mindful of the added stress on the engine and drive train with all that added HP. Yeah, the stress only comes if you have your foot in it all the time, but as I've mentioned before I love my Toyota/Lexus reliability.
If I had (in the future get) the extra $$, I truly think I would go that route, but my priorities were to get my rig as self contained for overlanding as possible first.
The 4.6 is a pretty under-stressed engine at only 301 HP....compared for a Ford Ecoboost 2.3 4-cylinder that makes basically the same power in half the displacement (with turbocharging). I don't know if I can see a low-boost supercharger making a significant reduction in longevity for a 4.6 making something like 400 HP, as long as it's tuned well. Or maybe it will only last 300K miles instead of 500K miles

I personally like the idea of a supercharged GX460....with a Prado conversion....and it gives me something to consider when it's eventually time to retire my 470. However my 470 with headers and a CAI has plenty of power....it would be nice if someone were to make similar mods for a 460.

this is basically my attitude on it… plenty of guys with supercharged 1st and 2nd gen Tacomas that have put hundreds of thousands of miles on them.Or maybe it will only last 300K miles instead of 500K miles

I haven’t seen headers yet, but there is a cat less y pipe from urd for the 460.

I like the idea of a naturally aspirated 4.6. You guys act like you never drove Cruiser with a 2F, or 3FE, or 1UZ-FE engine...

I was able to install my 305/70R18 Cooper STT pros. Measuring in at 35.1”. Wheels are 18x9 +0, with .75” (19mm) wheel spacer. I’m running about +5.7 caster to center the wheels and still have some plastic to trim.

Love the matte vinyl wrap. I want to do a vinyl wrap on mine in desert tan (Army Tan) or Army OD, but too expensive and I have to remove too much for them to get access to the entire vehicle.
Also, I too am running 315/70R17's (35's) and need to do the forward shifting alignment also. I get the slightest rubbing on the back of the front fenders, and even a little rubbing on my rear wheels, but I think that may have to be surgery (metal trimming) to fix that.

Is that 19mm slip on spacer on the stock studs? If so, is there a comfortable amount of stud left for the lug nuts and where did you get them?
0.75” wheel spacers are from trail-gear.com. You will need to make sure your wheels are compatible.
Man.. I'm at 12.5 right now on 33s. I knew the Alu Cab on top would take a hit but didn't think it would be that bad. Wonder how much I'm going to drop when I move up to 35s....
That’s why I won’t buy a roof top tent. Not worth the hit in mpg. Even with towing my popup tent trailer I managed to get over 14.
My MPG last weekend was 13.5, not bad. Mostly highway, about 20 miles of dirt.
