You nailed it Paul, any 4x series, 40, 43, 45, 47... BJ or FJ... we’d love to see one of your 45’s.

Sorry Johnny, you can come but you’ll need to buy, rent, steal, or jump into a 40. Otherwise, :ban:
There’s still the pepto bismol 40 sitting in Townsend

I have examined that 40 quite closely and I'm not sure it's worth saving 😂

For what 40's are fetching, the exterior looks pretty complete. Not saying I'd want to start with the pink panther but I've seen guys start with worse. Now that is just a drive by at the old shop and seeing it in Townsend last week.

Pull the top, spring it over, add some tires and it'd out wheel a lot of the newer trucks out there.

I really need to take time and look at it, if the body is mostly solid and the frame is decent every thing else is basically give away. Where it ends up is directly related to the size of your bank account and desire. FYI, there’s also a Jeep sitting on the north side of the building. Only thing I can say is I wouldn’t recommend putting a ford engine in it. Johnny, what was the major thing you noticed.

How would Saturday July 12th or 19th work for folks?

I'd like to see who's in, then we could see what trail fits best (closest) to the most people.

Ron and I chatted about running Choke Cherry, or something near Helena

Drew, we should run over and check out choke cherry. I'm curious to see where flipper flopped.

Ron, what do you mean bud? I’m not following? Maybe where @adventurefamly flopped his trailer? That’s happened more than once!

Good guess, didn't he do that the last time on chokecherry? I was up till way too early this morning going over Willie's books, all the trips I have planned are overnight trips especially when considering the road speed of most 40's. Might be we should consider Johnny's suggestion of twin lakes in the tobacco roots. Scenery is nice and it's a nice challenging trip that a stock 40 shouldn't have too much trouble on. Open for more suggestions

Is there a practical spot to park if we trailer over? Or even someone who lives close enough with room?

unfortunetly I'll be getting the 40 ready to go for BHCC August works better for me unless close to Helena.

You two are aware I'm standing right here!! :bang:

Trail should be a lot better now that it has dried out a bit. Good track. Off camber (obviously), ruts, one area for lockers, no corrugation for straight axle leafs. Area to drop trailers in Glen but will have to road from Melrose back to Glen (Touring Track). It can be done in a day, but a long day.
If you start from Melrose there is a large, flat grass area for trailers camping, etc. Would be a good area for an over nighter. Set camp in the grass area, run the track back to Glen, then road back to camp in Melrose.
Put on as much fuel as possible in Butte! There is one 'gas station' in Melrose, doesn't have a rewards program, enjoys the fact that the next fuel is Butte ($$$) and it's at the bar! Makes getting on the road a little tough!:deadhorse:

19th or 20th?

Where are you guys planning to go?

I'm loosely following along and I start a week vacation on the 20th.

19th not sure on the trail, thinking Elk Horn or Choke Cherry

Looks like I won't be able to make the 19th, I'll be working that day.

I'll most likely be running up to fish near Ovando.

I'll be at BHCC for the weekend.
