The only trail in the tobacco roots that has any "difficult spots" is north meadows and it's closed so you're good, the rest of them are just bumpy although I haven't done all of them. I haven't been down the boulder road to sailer lake before so that sounds good to me, like I said i am game for whatever. Just me and one of the dogs saturday, will leave bozeman in the morning. As far as coms I only have ham and will be on 146.460.
can i hitchhike a seat in your 40 for me and boone

who we got so far for S. Boulder Rd. to Sailor Lake Hike and maybe Globe Lake depending on how its going:
1. @JohnnyOshow22 on HAM Comms 146.460
2. @90WT
3. @finally (if he gets his friggin 40 back from body shop)
4. @rkymtnflyfisher is a maybe depending on family sched.
5. @elkun1 ??
6. @ttFJC is willing to do photography for run, just needs a seat in a 40 and spot for dog in back (I may have a seat if my kids scatter, but my cooler, dog, and gear will take up the rear :) I'll know soon)
7. who we missing?
@pigmony ?
@3_puppies (yes I want to see the 1980)
@TommyGuns
I won't keep listing the 40 potentials, but if you think of someone tag 'em :)

Also, if we're spread out too much on the Friday camping front, we could meet at the Sinclair in Norris at 8am and just make a good day out of it? would give me more time to get my rig together, but less time to mess around (see fishing) at the lakes :) I'm good w either. seriously, i can scope it and fish em another weekend :)

:) yes, or west of Harrison. Coming from Bozeman I thought Id stay off I90 and slip in via Norris and Harrison.

gotcha, i feel better now. if anyone is coming from the west or north they might want to meet at the turnoff south of cardwell

that would be very cool but I do not know and cannot make the connection via OnX without using what is identified as trail, so you may be right there unless someone has better knowledge of the area.

We've got friends in town so I won't make it, but I was up to Sailor lake several years ago in my stock Pickup. It gets a bit rocky in the last half mile or so, but nothing too bad.

I was volunteering as support for an ultra-marathon. Due to some miscommunication, I was running half an hour late and it was dark, but I was able to drive to the trailhead without issue. There was a lifted 4Runner at the trailhead where they'd camped. It must have confused the hell out of them to see a stock Pickup roar up that trail in the dark only for the driver to jump out, throw on a backpack full of radios and water jugs, and sprint off up the trail towards the lake. I beat the first runner to the lake by 2 minutes.

I think you multiplied where you should have divided. Chicago math. But, when will we see your new vehicle picture thread?

Looking at the forecast and if it doesn't get too wet I'm game. Don't have time to put on the full soft top or hard top and not too keen on getting really wet.

I need to spend some time where my cellphone is out of service. I'm in for meeting up Saturday morning. I can't make camping Friday work. Tell me where to be and when and I'll be there.

Right now we’ve got 8am at Sinclair station in Norris. Johnny has the HAM channel listed in thread above. I’ll be able to monitor the channel during ride, but I haven’t completed my exam yet (will in October) so monitor only for me. Also, don’t have my truck back from floor &bed pan repair yet. If I get it back this’ll turn into its shakedown run since it’s been sitting last eight weeks. I’m holding out hope I’ll have it and will be at Sinclair at 8am (will confirm w group as soon as I know). For folks coming in off I-90, they’ll need to set up a meet around there and then connect via comms (unless someone has a better idea)

Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to join in on the fun.

I simply have too much crap to get done this weekend, and don't have the time to be able to cut out for enough time to make it over and back. Even if I tried to trailer my 40 over on Sat morning, wheel all day, and trailer back over Sat night, I think it would eat up too much of my weekend by the time it was all said and done.
