If I do, would I have to clean it first?Anybody planning on taking their 40 to Cruisin on Main car show Aug 15th?
Ha! I've seen more than one car down there covered in dried bugs from the trip to Bozo for the show. Added points for beer cans and corn nut wrappers. If I do, would I have to clean it first?
Update to my updateHowdy 40 Friends,
Quick update:
I’m holding onto this 40 weekend tight for the run. However, my 40 has been w my body shop guy for the last 7 weeks for rust repair (everything takes longer these days). Really hoping I get her back tomorrow eve and can go back through her this weekend and get her on a shakedown run this Sunday.
I know folks are focusing on the Goose Creek Run first, but I’m going to be wondering (and hoping) there’s a camping option w this 40’s run. Sorry I haven’t been able to make the last few months meetings, Tuesday nights are lates ones for me most weeks at work, making a Tuesday night meeting will be rare (think it was May I was at) but I keep up in the thread

North meadow is closed at the moment just fyiHa!
Unfortunately, I have yet to explore trails in the Tobacco Roots. I’m happy to do some research over the weekend, get intel, etc, and make some recommendations to the group.
Thanks Johnny, I just got off the phone w the Ranger District and learned that, which he said is adding pressure to the other trails, S. Meadow in particular.North meadow is closed at the moment just fyi
Ok, I'm going to throw one more option out, then I'll shut up and let others chime in. I also received a recommendation from a friend that has a small piece of property in the TR's along the Boulder and explores in a 100 series. Another option is S. Boulder Rd. to the end of the line, close to Sailor Lake. You can't drive close enough to Sailor Lake to camp, but we certainly could hike to Sailor Lake (~1/2 mile from end of road) and have a camping option either at end of road or Curly Lake Trailhead. Thanks Johnny, I just got off the phone w the Ranger District and learned that, which he said is adding pressure to the other trails, S. Meadow in particular.
A couple of other possibilities would be Branham, which he said has been quite busy or Upper SureShot Lake in the Potosi area (which I did gravitate toward on OnX).
Again, I have not explored the area much, but looking at OnX and after a little digging, I’m willing to vote Upper Surehot/surehot lake to get this plan started at least![]()
My thinking is that this area might be less crowded on a Saturday as compared to Potosi area, but I could be completely off!OK. How about S. Boulder Rd to Sailor Lake and maybe even a hike to Globe Lake if folks are interested and time permits? And any interest in camping close Friday night? And how many 40’s are in for this Saturday Run?
The only trail in the tobacco roots that has any "difficult spots" is north meadows and it's closed so you're good, the rest of them are just bumpy although I haven't done all of them. I haven't been down the boulder road to sailer lake before so that sounds good to me, like I said i am game for whatever. Just me and one of the dogs saturday, will leave bozeman in the morning. As far as coms I only have ham and will be on 146.460.Hikes are cool. Camping could work for me.
Haven't done any trails in the Tobacco Roots (yes, really), but have driven to Potosi. Having never properly "wheeled" the 40 just yet and knowing that I have at least 300 unique rattles, anything too challenging is gonna scare me off. But I promise I won't be offended if you choose a challenging run or side routes.
