Still watching the forecast... @finally I'm not saying that it's alright but tons of people have used ham during trail rides and not had their license yet, I'll admit my wife uses it with me when we're taking the 40 and the 80 places at the same time and I monitor what goes on. She knows the rules and has taken the test and just missed it by a few points. Technically the licensed operator is supposed to be in the same room with the non licensed operator but given she's usually less than 100 yards behind me and there's no top on the 40 and technically the forest is the "room" we're in, I kinda fudge the definition a bit for the circumstance. Also keeping the radios on low power and not bothering anyone else is key. In other words I will vouch as the "observing operator" if I go. I think the main thing is nothing stupid should be said over the radio and no messing with official parties ie police, aircraft, emergency services.Right now we’ve got 8am at Sinclair station in Norris. Johnny has the HAM channel listed in thread above. I’ll be able to monitor the channel during ride, but I haven’t completed my exam yet (will in October) so monitor only for me. Also, don’t have my truck back from floor &bed pan repair yet. If I get it back this’ll turn into its shakedown run since it’s been sitting last eight weeks. I’m holding out hope I’ll have it and will be at Sinclair at 8am (will confirm w group as soon as I know). For folks coming in off I-90, they’ll need to set up a meet around there and then connect via comms (unless someone has a better idea)
