As I was sitting outside of Boeing Surplus Sales this AM I was sketching some plans to make a version of the mount originally sold by CCOT (still can't understand why they quit making 'em). I haven't seen one of the originals in the "flesh" but I intend to make mind mostly on a rotary table so that not only look good but are uniformly strong. Steel will be my first choice but I may try some out of aluminum and TIG weld them together.

Doug,

Somewhere along the way I came across someone who had a CCOT PS set up on their 40.

I PM'd the guy to ask for pics, but no reply. Then I think I deleted my sent messages before I got my star (or maybe we didn't have 'em?). Anyway, he never wrote back and I don't remember who it was.

So if anyone reading has the CCOT PS pump brackets - let me know! Pics would be great! I can post 'em for you...

Here's a CCOT kit; from like the late 90s. I THINK its an FJ60 pump.

Hi Pablo,

I have a set...

No probs with clearance or leaks. Isn't anyone gonna comment on my second alternator, GM 105 amp, in the location of the stock smog pump? Sweeeeeet. (see picture 1) .

I'll bite - tell me the story...

Oh wait, I could not tell it was a second!

I figured you were running a compressor over in the alt location...

Dual batteries, dual alternators (no fancy schmancy splitter box thingy), dual electrical systems. Like a helicopter. Does that make me cool?

steering pump bracket for '77 2F in my FJ60?

Doug_s
I have a 1985 JF60 with lots of miles but in good shape. I just rebuilt a 2f from a '77 without realizing that the block is missing the power steering pump mounting holes. I'm trying to find or build a PS pump bracket. Have you found any solutions yet? Will CCOT offer brackets again? Any luck with designs for your own bracket?
thanks, MontanaFJ60

I am interested in cooler tube ,ie OEM style put me down for one , also i am running a 4 runner ps hose and is a bit long 5" shorter would have been nice any one know of a better fit? 78/40

sign me up for cooler tube too. also interisted in bracket set up ,any one know what toyota pump to use with this setup ,noticed a lot of pumps in pick&pull that look like 40 pump but sit on pass side of motor and return line is on wrong side of tank ,also what pressure hose is correct length have a 4 runner hose on other 40 and it is quite long could be 5" shorter  ps thought i sent reply but cant find it oops pardon me if i post twice

Still working on the shop guys. I'm managed to make a model of the power steering pump out of cardboard (very good idea before cutting chips) . Since I do not have the smog pump, I will have to run the ps pump off the inner pully and devise some sort of belt adjustment to work in conjunction with the pump. : (

That didn't sound right...I didn't actually make a power steering pump out of cardboard (that'd be quite a feat) just the mount. That's what I get for listening to jazz while typing.........

Speaking about power steering setups... my cruiser's power steering reseirvor says USE ATF fluid, those this sound right or could it be the reseirvoir was scavenged off another truck? I would think the "correct fluid to use" would be power steering fluid.

thanks

IMO, if you're a purist, go with the Toy 60 box & be happy that is sez Toyota on the side of it. If you're a realist, put a Toy 60 box next to a Scout Saginaw box, then compare which one has the larger, more heavy duty sector shaft. Saginaw wins hands down!

Ack! The article is gone?!?!

Hey SuperDuper,
I hit the link for the article and it's no longer up. Do you or anyone else have a copy of it? I'm dying for more into on it.
Thanks
