40 Aerodynamics vs Loaf of Bread

What happens when those front vents are opened?

It’s been 16 years since I’ve had to use my brain for anything serious, and 30 years since I was in/around anything to do with CFD and almost 45 years since I got my aero degree, so it’s humbling to see where the world of CFD has progressed to, even if it is to compare the aero of a loaf of bread and a FJ40 😂. We used to have to run the Navier-Stokes code on a supercompter for hours to get one solution point on those colored contours shown in the video. I guess I’ll just stick with brainlessly driving around my bluff body 40 on dirt roads chasing the cows 😂.

Back in my design days I worked up an detachable adjustable wing to fly out in front of the bumper just to improve the aerodynamics of the brick. I did a dc powered turret too because you need two people to "Rat Patrol"

One of my favorite Bill Mauldin's cartoon is a crawler getting ready to pull a B-24 stuck in the mud, The operator yells up to the pilot "No foolen that thing really fly's!"

Yeah but I want to know about banana bread…. Toasted with a good amount of butter… Or better yet- banana bread French toast….

I bet if I ‘butter up’ my bumper and bib…..it’ll help stream line the rig, I wonder what Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) inputs would be required to adjust for a ‘buttered bumper’……just thinkin’ out loud here🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Viscous drag coefficient

or maybe calories 😂

I always referred to my 40s as a rolling Bread "BOX".

So, if I load the "box" with with a loaf, will I get better mileage?

Butter normally ends up on the back end rather than up front, and it doesn't usually lead to a streamlined outcome iirc...
