Embarrassed to say I don't know more about this...

I have a 3FE from a '88 62 in my 1974 FJ-55. We did the swap years ago - no memory of wiring up the oil pressure gauge.

I used to have an oil pressure reading at the factory 55 gauge, now I don't. I went to check, assuming that the oil pressure signal came from the oil filter housing, but there is no wire that looks like it is even remotely close to the sender on the oil filter housing!

Can anyone with a 62 help a brother out? Where do you get the signal from for your oil pressure gauge?

Thanks!

Down by the oil cooler is where the one is on the 62 i have in my shop ill snap a pic here in a little while for reference.

Yellow wire with black tracer. Sender is threaded into the oil cooler.

if the sender has a spade connector on it, DO NOT ATTACH THE WIRE THERE, the wire needs to go to the center knub of the sender

Good to know, what happens if you attach to the spade? Kill the gauge?
Yep the gauge element overheats and then the gauge is unserviceable.

Oil cooler = rectangle looking object on the passenger side of the block, yes?

I took a quick look at lunch from top/front and could not see any obvious senders or connection points. The air cleaner obstructs a lot of the view...

Actually on the 3FE I believe it is under the oil filter.

The Topic in question is called : call out # 82124 / Engine Room Wire No. 4 / Part # 82124-90A01

it is a very common these days for this critical connection or part of it or the whole Dam thing to simply ROT away into thin air due to 30+ years of OIL soaked Madness under a freezing or HOTTER the Heck Engine Bay conditions .........

Toyota Engineers i dont think thought this one out very well ?

what would and does happen when a OIL filter with a ANTI drain back Valve is unscrewed and then tipped slightly by the Technician or Owner Operator ......

well the Rubber Cup or Cover over the oil sender itself fills with engine oil over time bit by bit ........

this only takes short time for a 1980's recipe of EPDM rubber to break down and simply turn to Nothing-Ness and blow away under the force of 55 MPH breeze under hood conditions ........

so ........

I have always been fascinated by Rubber Sensor Cups , Boots and Covers& Caps of all kinds ......... :D

so , i decided to Bring Poor little 82124-90A01 ENGINE ROOM Wire No. 4 back from the dead and indeed re-Wind Time 3 decades here below ...........

- i made 1 critital Design Change i felt would help preserve a good thing and keep all well for a longer time window then originally dreamed up by Toyota Engineers in JAPAN ...............🤔

- Relocated the HOLE for the Positive Grip Special locking Terminal to the Button Connector terminal on the sender itself in hopes the oil the WILL migrate inside has a weep hole of sorts , to naturally drain out over time between oil changes .,.......

Time will tell and we will see here , but my theory is sound i think , and makes logical sense to me anyway ............

I have the one I got from you and still need to install. Need to get with you and get a new oil pressure sender and a plethora of coolant hose clamps soon so I can take a long weekend this summer and do a ton of cleanup on the 62s engine bay for glamour shots of your new parts!

and i need to finish your kustom 12v power socket illuminated Rocker Switch ............

Thanks all! Found it!
The connector looks like it has lived a hard life. The wire had backed out.
So I got things back together and got oil pressure back on the gauge.
Next up, @ToyotaMatt repair kit!

You also have the sender itself? If I can do a cooling system refresh this summer I'm going to replace O rings and clean up my oil cooler along with replacing the side cover gasket. Figure that'll be the perfect opportunity to change out the sender and put on the new pretty connector and boot and take some glamor shots.
