This is a stupid question but I’m having a hard time finding reference.
Do 92 3FE head bolts have washers or just shoulder bolts.
I ask because I bought a 92 80 with a blower motor. Sourced a running high mileage motor that I had rebuilt.
Put maybe 700 to 1000 miles on the rebuilt motor and started having overheating issues. Signs pointed to head gasket.
Pulled the head and head gasket failed between cylinder 2 and 3/5 and 6.
Got block and head checked again and no issues found.
Installed a new oem Toyota head gasket and other gaskets. Everything done per FSM.
Rig ran tip top for about 30/40 minutes starting seeing white smoke and bubbling in expansion tank.
Using a boroscope I can see coolant burnt in the cylinders and head gasket leakage.
Looked back at the FSM to see if I missed something. I saw during the head bolt sequence its states “ 10 head bolts with washer”.
My head bolts have shoulders and no wishers. Wondering if the machine shop forgot the washers?
