Just like the title says, I designed and printed a custom mount for my Ultragauge over the weekend.

At first I intended to mount it in the stock cubby but I snapped the tabs off while removing it so I pivoted to a screw-in panel with 4 #6-32 threaded inserts for attaching accessories (including but not limited to the ultragauge).

Please excuse the ugly backside to the dash-to-ultragauge mount, it was an awful print.

This is a light-duty part since it's just screwed into the existing nylon inserts that are behind the Toyota cubby but should be fine for something like this.

I left a little cutout for the cord, when my shoulder is back in good shape I'll try fishing the whole thing back through the dash for a clean install with some minor tweaks to this design

very cool!

That is nice. Are you going to make more? Any way to get the file?

Nice mount!
very cool!
Thanks!

looks nice. what kind of material did you print it out of?

ABS, I think I may have had an easier time printing the overhangs in PLA but I knew it would get too hot in the car

Thanks, I'll post it to Thingiverse when I've made some adjustments, maybe this weekend. The holder doesn't grab the Ultragauge as well as I'd like it to. So far I'm pretty happy with the position and angles though, it doesn't block the clock or the radio. I'd also like to make an attachment for something else common that I could put on the other two holes; not sure what, feels a little far away for a phone mount.

Have you tried petg? I prefer it to abs.

Yeah, I love the strength. I've used it for a few things but I've had even worse experience printing overhangs with it, would need to do a lot more tuning on my printer/settings to get these parts to come out nicely in PETG. I also like the more satin-y finish from ABS, especially when I sand it.

Are you using a homebuilt printer? Otherwise what are you running?

Thanks!

Did this file ever make it onto thingiverse?

You know what I'd really love to see? A new trim panel that converts the center dash clock/vent into an UltraGauge mount. It's the perfect spot and most folks running an aftermarket head unit already have second clock option.

I have been pondering something similar but with the buttons being mounted on the back of the unit, it makes it difficult to flush mount it anywhere :hmm:

You'd have to create a clip that essentially holds the UG flush into the face, then allows you to snap it in/out to reset the buttons on the back.

Willing to provide the STL? I'd love to mount mine there and it looks like you did a great job.

You & other might send a PM or email, I looked & last log-in was 8/4/19.

Decided to make my own since I need ram mounts. Still WIP but a good start. I'll work on the screw mounting angles and rear angle (which should be easy). Just made the double ram. Single ram installed. But will be swapped. Solid as all heck!
