I have done a bit of searching here, and I get mixed results. I am having some state inspection issues over the lack of rear fender flares. I have a 4 ome heavy lift. I found out yesterday that I have 1.5 inch spacers on all four corners. If I take them off I might be able to pass inspection. I would actually prefer to leave them off the vehicle. I don't like the fat tire look. Will this compromise my wheeling abilities at full stuff and full lock? I plan to remove the front flares as well. Thanks in advance.

wheel back spacing is kindof important to answer this question.

Like bloc said, backspacing on your wheels will dictate whether you have an issue or not. Are you on stock wheels? If so, you'll be fine. (Also, if your rig is 95 or newer, I'd be interested in your front flares)

Stock rims and its a 1995. @Lumpskie the flares have durable on them. if you are still interested I can send some pics.

Ditch the spacers. It'll be fine. Dunno whether you'll pass inspection, though. As Corbet said you may want to line up some wheels/tires or make some homebrew flares.

If they fail you after wheel space removal, you can temporarily install some flexible, generic fender flare material. I forget the company but they make some pretty nice stuff. What state is this nonsense happening in?

Vermont:) we mostly just legalized smoking and growing weed yesterday:rofl: you can add that to the list of S$&@ you can do here. I will pull the spacers off this weekend, just as soon as I figure out PO 305 hoping that since this occurred right after I replaced the valve cover gasket and reused my old ass wires. New wires in order,or I must delve into a possible injector harness meltdown. That seems to be a popular repair.

@Mattyboy I'm still interested. PM me any pictures you have. Also, like I mentioned earlier, I passed just fine with stock wheels, no spacers and no flares.

Hey @Mattyboy. After running spacers for a year and a half, I finally took mine off. First and foremost, I have a 1995 fenderless with stock wheels and 295's at the time. Without the fenders, the truck felt narrow. I picked up spacers from a friend and was immediately happy with the new look. Lots of wheeling but no rubbing, it seemed perfect.

Last year, we did a local trail run that had a muddy crossing. Out of 7 trucks, mine was easily the dirtiest. Since the tires stuck out so far, every bit of mud went on the side, hood, and roof of the truck. This was enough to convince me I didn't need them. One additional benefit is that I could feel the difference in the scrub radius. At low speed the truck steers better without the spacers.

Just rig some rear flares on with duck tape and take them off ones the inspection is done

I have some spacers with my 16 procrap wheels and it wheels great. Don't know about the back spacing but I bet if I took them off I'd run on the body at full flex on the rear for sure. Don't know about the front.

Damn iPhone autocorrect.

Back spacing on the rims...

Took off the spacers.....

It would rub on the body at full flex(without the spacers)

Ughhhhh. Okay, game on.
