Ok, another detail question: Aren't there gaps between the corrugations on the bottom(at the front of the bed) and the understructure that allow crud to get to stuck in them? Sealing them might be an idea but they may also serve as a drain when the truck is pointint down hill. Not really a major issue just something to think about.
Keep up the good work. What you've done in months I haven't even started in 15 years.

About 2.5 on the lpb tonight, all box.

Had a few buddies come over after work and give me a hand flipping the box over. There isn't a lot of rust on this box, but one of the channels had a little rot on the end. I bent up the piece, tacked it in and then had to cut it on one side, flatten out one of my bends, angle it down and weld it back up. I think the pics pretty much explain it all. It has to be that way since that area on the end of those channels straddles the frame. I still have to tack in a new piece of 1/8" x 1" flat stock, where a heavy piece of rubber threads into it. Overall, turned out pretty good.

The left rear quarter was bent up pretty good and I had planned on fixing that. I marked out an are to cut, basicly where the box panel is spot welded to the bed. Zipped that off and had to do a little hammering near the wheel well flare, got that all straight.

Not sure if I will be able to work on the box tomorrow night, but hoping Friday night. I am planning on blasting the bottom on Saturday morning, just a little clean up. Then shoot a good coat of epoxy primer. Probably more hammering on Saturday, but probably start the prime and sand process.

About 4 hours on the lpb and 2 on the bike today.

It was a really nice day today up here, got all the way up to 43 F. Got the box out side and did a little clean up work with the blaster. Didn't need a lot, but just went over everything and a few areas the acid didn't do that great of job on. That took about an hour, after that rolled it into the booth and did a couple hours of hammer/dolly work on the bottom. Just a few dings and dents in the bottom, some braces needed to be straighted out, wheel wells, etc... Blew everything off and then shot a good coat of epoxy primer on the bottom. The box looks really nice, hoping to start working on that left rear quarter tomorrow..get that welded in. Have a couple couple holes to weld up in the wheel wells, but should be flipping it over Monday and the sanding begins.

Since it was such a nice day I wanted to do a little testing on the bike. Slowly drove out to the highway on the snow on my road, about a mile and half. Once on the highway it was all clean asphalt. Drove into town, didn't open it up, but about 55 mph. Once in town, checked everything over..had a pop and then went home. One the way home, I think I was going about 65 to 70mph. Seemed to ride really nice with no noticable problems. So, as of now everything looks good on that thing. I'm sure this spring I will be putting a few more miles on it.

Had to drive the truck out of the shed to get into the booth, took a couple glamour shots of that also.

About 6 hours on the lpb today, all box.

Started off by making that left rear quarter. Fairly straight forward and easy to make, pics pretty much explain it all. Slowly tacked that in and got it welded up, ground down. A lot straighter and nice than the wrinkled up piece that was on there. Installed all the bolts back in the bed, all 18...used S.S. this time around. Had a few holes that some one had drilled in the wheel wells that had to be welded up. Also spent some time with the hammer and a punch pounding little dents and dings in the bed straight again. Had a few misc. things still had to straighten out and then went over the bed again, got it as good as I can get it.

Scrubbed everything down on the sides of the bed with a scotchbrite pad and shot a couple good coats of ureathane primer on the side and rear. Hopefully block that out tomorrow and shoot more primer.

About 3 hours on the lpb tonight.

No pics, nothing special. Sand and then prime again, just takes time and looks the same as the grey primer pics before. Hoping to get another pass tomorrow and that will be it until next week. Got to head out to Las Vegas for work on Wed. and won't be back until late Sunday night.

Thinking I might be ready to shoot some SEM sauce in about a week and a half...maybe the weekend after next. Then....either finish my brake lines, exhaust or wet sand and paint....can do those in any order.

The bike is cool and all...but it's good to see you back working on the LPB again!

Really nice man, really nice. Just spent the last 2 hours reading, I woiuld give my left nut for a 45 in half that condition. Well done! Any update's?

Approx. 2.5 hours tonight on the lpb.

Afte 5 days in Sin city made it back this morning around 3:30 a.m. after a few delays...I think I was sleeping 30 seconds after I walked in the door. I was back at work this morning and when I got home this evening I figured I better get after it. Blocked out the sides again with the 18" block and 80 grit paper. Looking really good, couple areas needed a little attention so I dab'd on a little skim coat here and there with glazing compound and blocked that out.

Took a before and after shots, also a couple side pics. Hoping to block it out to 80 grit tomorrow again and that might be it for the sides. Going to flip it upright again and work some other areas. If I'm lucking I might be shooting some SEM sauce this weekend?
