Just out of curiosity, where can I find a bunch of nuts and bolts for my LV? Since I purchased this vehicle with the 'after-factory disassembled' option, I'm thinking I don't have enough fasteners to put it back together!! Didn't know if you had a source for zinc coated nuts and bolts. - Jeff

Just started reading the thread on this and the wagon. Man, those are awesome work there. Two tumbs up for you.

Gary had the same problem on his Project X
https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=34899

It was took apart when he got it....he would send me a bolt, and tell me he needed 12 of them .....this went on for some time but luckily Toyota uses the same style to this day, I would go to my hoard and fetch them, he had them soda blasted and re dipped.

i still might be able to get them for you matt. maybe i'll hacksaw them off.

Hi Simon,

That would be great if you could.....I hate to destroy more lv parts, but I am not having any luck finding any interior door handles or the door jam stops.

Please let me know if you think you can?

Thanks, Matt

I have a souce of S.S. stuff through one of our bolt suppliers at work. I had posted up common sizes I have used on mebersfield 66 build up thread.

I am going for maximum rust protection vs the stock cad look though..

Got in about 6 hours on the lpb today, didn't get as much as I wanted to get done.

I actually started off by getting the tranny hump cleaned up. I want to get that prepped up so I can spray SEM on the bottom of that also. That took at least an hour, had to use the torch to flame the old undercoating off. After I got that done I blasted the tranny hump, few pics of it blasted and hung up.

The rest of my time was spent seam sealing the bottom of the cab and fenders. Neighbor came over an helped me flip it up side down. I went over the bottom with the DA and 80 grit first. It took me at least 4 hours to completely seam seal every opening, every hole and every metal edge.....at least it's done now. I also drilled the holes in the rockers for the running boards, using the new running boards I got last week as a template. The front stock hole on both sides has always stayed there, so I just had to bolt that one up and mark the rest.

Shot a coat of DP50LF to seal everything up, including the tranny hump. It was getting a little late and I wanted to give the primer some time to dry before I started sticking tape to it, just to make sure I didn't peal it up.

Plan is to get out there tomorrow, finishing taping everything up and start shooting some SEM sauce.

You are shooting the cheapie omni single stage then clearing it with the Concept?

Rob

There are 2 cans of OMNI there, one is single stage ureathane without the binder (for the SEM sauce). The other OMNI product is MBC base, and yes...I do plan on shooting the base and then clearing it with the concept.

Matt,
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your restore/rebuild threads! You definitely have a skill and gift with fabrication. Your documentation will be a great asset to many folks attempting the same. Before reading your threads, I was leery of starting any metal patching and just going with the panel replacement approach. I’m sold on the fact that I can attempt this as well.
Well, maybe not as perdy as your work.:D

Got a sporatic 8 hours on the lpb today, mostly with the SEM sauce.

Pics pretty much say it all. Out in the booth this morning and finished taping up the cab, fenders and tranny hump....that took over an hour. Once that was done, blew everything off, tacked clothed and started spraying the SEM stuff. Shot about 2 coats, took a little while for the first coat to flash off. Can says 20 minutes, but it was about an hour or so before I shot the second coat. After about 2 hours I started pulling paper, still a little tacky to the touch, but I wasn't touching it anyway, just pulling tape around it. Overall, very happy with the results, good coverage and sealed up.....it should float now.

Also, before I flip the cab over and I can easily spray underneath the dash.....I shot a couple coats of MBC base behind the dash. It was extremely easy to do now, so once the cab is upright I will just blend the base into the old stuff and then shoot the clear. Lot easier than trying to stick that gun up there later.....at least this way I know I got color on everything.

Had some more time so I sandblasted a few parts, including the gas tank. I didn't think the fuel tank leaked...and maybe it didn't, but after blasting there were a couple holes in the bottom. Going to talk to a guy tomorrow about brazing them shut, I'll see what he says.

Hoping to get the cab flipped over tomorrow night and shoot base/clear on the inside of the cab, fenders and tranny hump.

Excellent!! Let's see some pics

Glad I could be of some assistance, Matt

I have a guy here in town that has a MILLER Plasma Sprayer that he uses to build up the metal in the ares that are thin. I am thinking this would be perfect in this case. And maybe the POR tank sealer or simular.

Not sure if anyone here locally has a Plasma sprayer......I have heard of spray welding, I am assuming that is the same thing or similar.

Thanks, I'll do some checking and see what I can round up.
