Hey I've got a stock FJ40 and a running 4.7 laying around. How hard would it be to install? How many people here have done this swap? Would it be possible to keep the original 3spd tranny? I'd love to keep the original 6 cylinder and wire them both into the harness so I can switch them out.

Please let me know if you have any tips or know anyone who's done it 👍

This is a great build.
Not reversible though.

Like everyone else before you, the answer is likely not for you. You have to (at a bare minimum) Adapt the existing bellhousing to h series trans or convert to auto, accommodate driveline to suit. Weed out factory harness and bypass auto interlock. Convert t-body or find early 2UZ cable throttle body, custom mounts, adapt cooling system to motor.

In no way is it a quick swap. If you’re smart and know how to swap motors - then it’s not bad at all, it’s a pretty normal procedure - look at the Nissan S-chassis world - they put
Anything under the sun in those bays and it’s nothing new.
