Mace,

So you are doing a propane draw through? If so are you going to use a DualCurve timing setup and go closed-loop?

Thx!

Yes I have a draw through propane setup.

I have the dual curve unit but have not hooked it up yet.

That is in the list of things to do next..

Cool! Can't wait to see the photos!!! Are you using an Impco 200 and Model E reg? Do you have access to a Dyno? I would love to know the #s when its done.....

I was going to put dual Impcos on my Porsche 912 engine but after I saw that draw through of a type 1 that you posted I am thinking of doing a turbo with an Impco 125....

it was already done and Dynoe'd

425 with a E vaporizer..

142 rwhp with a ton of exhaust leaks. It will do better with more boost and the exhaust sealed up (and the new cam).

Your kidding right? A 425? What CFM are you looking to pull? That brings on a ton of questions and I don't want to Hijack.... New thread on propane? Parts, resources, timing, rigging?

not kidding at all...

Start another thread if ya want to..

Well, since you mentioned "oil returns"... I was watching "Rides" and they seem to dwell on SEMA. (Yes Chip Foose is gospil in our house) Getting to my point, they showed a flow back, at the end of the car? Is that even possible?

Waiting for rugburn..

:D

Is he coming up with a model or is he producing them?? Also, does the turbo have to be oil and water cooled?

He is making a model right now.

The turbo does not have to be oil and water cooled but it helps it..

Mace, could you explain to me why the stock aisin carb would have to be located to a different spot when the turbo mounts below it to the exhaust manifold?? Thanks.

I am not sure the stock aisin carb would work in a blow through turbo design...

1. Mace, forgive me, what do you mean blow through system?

2. Why would the aisin not suffice with the correct jets?

3. Do you say this because the aisin carb is impossible to use with a turbo or just that it's not the best setup?

4. And also, if i was to use the aisin carb, would it have to be relocated? if so why?

Thanks.

1. there are 2 types of turbo systems, Draw through (where the carb is upstream of the turbo, I have this one) or a Blow through (the carb is downstream of the turbo.) In a Blow through system the carb needs to enrichen the mixture during boost. I am just not sure that the Aisin can do that.

2. See #1

3. Donno.. never tried it. There are others that are much more versed in making carbs work with turbos..

4. IMHO yes.. It would have to be relocated upstream of the turbo..

Ok, making more sense now, but you say the carb would have to be relocated upstream of the turbo, isn't it already "upstream"? I'm guessing upstream means the carb is above the turbo.

3. The 2F carb is a vac secondary type. It relies on venturi vacuum to open the big second barrel. A blowthrough turbo would actually pressurize the carb, close the second barrel and kill the power.

For a blowthrough setup, a simple carb like a Holley 2bbl would be best.

4. Upstream (drawthrough) means the carb is feeding mixture to the turbo, where it is compressed, then stuffed into the manifold. The carb cannot remain in the stock location and be drawthrough.
