Link is broken. Where is the data?

Dang, Martian's external link is broken. Have you pm'd him? He just took the numbers folks had posted up and graphed them; probably take a 1/2 hour to recreate it.

Okay, took me a little more than a 1/2 hour, but I started recreating this Excel spreadsheet. I have not finished going through this whole thread yet, but will update as I can.

It's interesting that it doesn't appear to matter whether the engine went in a FJ43, FJ45, FJ55, to the US, NZ or to Saudi Arabia, they are pretty much linear. So potentially, engines cast on either side of mine could have ended up halfway around the world. It also looks like the engine casting # and FJ40 VIN #s cross at some point (about May of '78), meaning 2Fs were being built a lot faster than FJ40s, since FJ40s had about a 185,000 unit head-start on the 2Fs. So between FJ43s, FJ45s and FJ55s (and forklifts?) an additional 185,000 units were produced in about 3 years...

That is not the block serial number it is the part number. Look at the flat behind the distributor, it will have a stamped number.

Gotcha Subzali. I thought I was missing a digit. I thought I read that the serial number was on driver's side and my distributor os on passenger side. Must be a left drive vs right drive thing.

I just finished going through the whole thread and uploaded a new spreadsheet with all the info from this thread. I included usernames, locations, and vehicle types as well in case somebody is interested at comparing serial number vs. location or serial number vs. vehicle type. It still needs a little cleaning up (some folks misunderstood the assignment, and I had to guess at some of the production months) but at least it's up to date with all the raw data.

You can note mine as clearly not an original engine as the number is out of sequence.

Hello from a new owner!

I'm am extremely proud to say I am now the owner of my 1st FJ40 and am living in Auckland, New Zealand.
Engine # 2F-187248
Frame # 253514

It actually says " Land Cruiser FH " on the plate attached to the firewall, any idea's?

I'll post some pics up as soon as I figure out how to.

Good to meet you all and I hope to pick your brains for a lot of advice as I'm planning on a complete strip down to bring her back to her former glory.

Kind regards,

Rhodesia.

blo

So I have an '79 fj40 with a block number of 863625 but my understanding is that it is not original. Any idea what year it is from?

Thanks

I updated the file some and cleaned it up. Still have some work to do but everything lines up a lot better now:

kator1, it looks like your block will be from sometime in 1985 or so. This post didn't catch on the FJ60 forum like the FJ40/55 forum, so data from the 80s is pretty limited still...

Good job! Looks good. Thanks.

A little correction on row 223:

Username: DeltaT
Location: Canada (not Europe)
Date: Jun-84
Engine #: 8401658 (add to list)
Frame #: 810366
Model: FJ40

I looked at that one but that engine number doesn't make sense. There weren't 8 million 2Fs made

I did some digging and found a picture. Maybe the last digit is just a smudge? That would make the engine # 840165
That would make sense no?

I could double check but it is way to cold out (-14F as we speak)
