Very happy to be putting things back together.

Threw my shifter boots in the bath:

Since the Lokar shifter is slightly smaller in diameter than stock I grabbed on of these rubber grommets to make up the difference. Seems like it will work well.

Here's the finished product. Shifters look very fine IMHO.

Finally for tonight I fabbed up this nifty beer shelf under the hood:

This will come in really handy when performing trail repairs and beer is required.

That's it for now, but more to come.

Man, you're getting close!

What size grommet did you use on the shifter? That's one of those things I meant to do, but never did. That looks perfect.

What a bright idea that of the grommets... "now why didn't I think of that !!! DOINK !!!
I like that your TC shifter is in the stock location...
Thanks for posting.....!!

Glad you guys like the grommet mod. It's the little things, eh?

Cam, this is the grommet I used:

Trans cooler lines complete

I ran some 5/16" hard line from the trans along the oil pan trying to mimic factory location and up to the frame where I transitioned to soft line.

I used these fittings that I referenced a couple pages back to connect to the transmission

I had a couple hoses made at the same shop that did my PS hose. Super nice hoses and ridiculously overbuilt for trans oil cooler lines. Worth it to me at this point to have one less thing to do.

Update

It's come down to wiring at this point. Everything is there that needs to be there in order for this thing to start. Working thru the wiring harness and hopefully running shortly.

In the meantime here's a quick rundown on my solution for an air intake. I bought a used HJ60 air box several months back thru the Mud Classifieds. Figured the outlet on this box would be just the ticket and it bolts up to factory holes in the FJ60.

Item was delivered with lots of rust - my fault I suppose for not insisting on pictures. But after lots of media blasting it turned out pretty clean.

Problem with the HJ60 outlet is that it's only about 2 7/8" in diameter and the Vortec air inlet is 4". Finding a reducer for this proved problematic and seemed like it would be restrictive.

I found an 80 series lid ('95-'97) to go on the box which worked out well as it's outlet is 3.5". This size reducer is readily available. Seems like air can flow much easier with this setup and I now can use 80 air filters.

Finished product installed:

BTW, the HJ60 lid will be posted for sale in the classifieds if anyone is interested.

Nice work on the airbox. I bought a similar combo (FJ62 bottom/ 80-series top) a while back hoping to reduce intake temps, but I'll have to move my air compressor before I can mount it.

Now that it's 95+ degrees out, intake temps are in the 150's. I've seen it go into the 170's if I park and idle with the AC going full blast. I swear I can feel the ECU compensating and it is down on power at high temps.

Is there some sort of duct inside the fender that routes to fresh air? I have one that takes it to the inner fender area, but that would still pull mostly hot radiator air, though it should still be an improvement.

Thanks.

Not totally sure about the 62's but I think the stock intake duct only went into the fender (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I was thinking along the same lines and plan to run an aftermarket flex to the rad. core support for cooler air.

Engine bay looks very good! Dang. I need to do this...
