i love that video. what fuel injection are you running. it seems to run great in the video.

it is part downey and part junkyard based on downey specs. I inherited it when I got the vehicle back so I am having a hard time deciphering what is right and what isn't.

I still manufacture the Downey TBI adapters and the Downey TBI air cleaners, and occasionally remanufacture a 4.3 throttle body and put a kit together. I keep the adapters, air cleaners, and TBI throttle cable kits in my ebay store (tojoproducts@aol.com), but Mud members do not have to buy on ebay, and Mud members get an additional 10% discount (since I don't have to give it to ebay).

Hey Downey
Do you work on people's cruisers? If I brought mine to you coul you work the bugs out of it?

Fabio, I'd want to know:
(1) Will they be giving you the Downey adapter so that the throttle body does not hit your valve cover.
(2) I'd want more info on their Distributor, where/how does it use a GM ignition module.
(3) Did they program out the Knock sensor and VSS, if so I'll hold your hand when you discover idle function problems due to no VSS.
(4) You might want to look at my TBI Landcruiser air cleaner assembly, designed to clear your brake cylinder, see at Tojoproducts@aol.com.
(5) You could talk to me about the longer throttle cable you will want with the TBI conversion, plus it's a nice upgrade from Toyota's design.

I guess I'm looking more for a diagnosis. I would do all the wrenching myself. I might be coming through Southern California this winter. Would you be interested in taking a look?

Jim, I just asked AFI a few more questions concerning the things you listed above. Where can I see the products you mentioned (air cleaner, throttle cable kits)? I searched on ebay but could not find them.

Has anyone out there used the TBI kit from these guys:
TOYOTA Complete TBI System

Would like to get some feedback for this kit.

Yes I've installed a half dozen of these systems. Other than tuning on my own truck all the others installed easily and customers didn't have any issues. If you do go with their system go with the Downey spacer. I like it better. His air cleaner is nice too.

@Downey you adapter moves the carb/throttle body away from the head? Kind of like an Offy? No, it turns the throttle body 90 degrees so that widest part of the throttle body is running fore and aft, parallel with the valve cover.

What CFM numbers are people using to design these systems for F and 2F engines?
Use the 1987-93 Chevy 4.3,5.0,5.7 throttle body, 480 cfm, #17089045, 1.685" butterflies. Landcruiser 6 cyl and Chevy 4.3 V6 almost same size c.i., do not use the larger Chevy BB throttle body with 2" butterflies, #17087021.
