You were boosting your PCV line??? lol
Take the line and run it upstream of the turbo. That way you will still have a neg crankcase pressure.

Wait, where is your brake booster lead going???

Brake booster is not an issue unless your trying to brake while on the gas I guess, I have vacume as soon as you take your foot off the gas and close the throtle body. So no issues there. The brake boost line is the same set up as the 3FE.

That works - just make sure the non return valve is working well and you will have sufficient vacuum for a few brake applications.

Other option is a pump from a diesel but there is no need unless your planning on an anti lag system for the turbo like the rally cars use.

I did consider a diesel Alt with a vacuum pump but the brake booster works fine so it's not been an issue.

New rear main is in no leaks again, I hate oil leaks hmmmm compulsive obsessive
that does not sound like any 40 owners I know :grinpimp:

Next up is fixing the rear shock mount on the rear drivers side (RHD) moving the rear axle back 40mm and fitting a 60 series rear has created a problem where when the rear is fully compressed on the drivers side it crushes the outer skin of the shock  The solution I hope is to move the top shock mount backward to the other side of the cross-member. going to be close but fingers crossed.

Matt took me for a ride in this thing yesterday- and let me say this clearly...

HOLY s***!

This beast absolutely flies. I was grinning like a nervous schoolboy.

I don't know what I was expecting- but it wasn't that much.

Awesome job Matt.

Well been a while but time to finish a few bits off.

Snorkel first, hmmmmm Stainless would be nice but just too bling, steel I think painted black, maybe powder coated. The air filter is Stainless with 4" in and out and seals fully and foam washable.

To start all in 4" :D

This will only be used off road and at comp.

Kits

Matt,

Great thread, as a newbie to 40s I've been following this since I started my build.

Anyway you mentioned a little side business sprouting up...Have you ever thought of putting this all together as a kit?

hey did you have the cut the brace/rib in the center of the bonnet to fit the intake piping ??
i cant get a 2.5" piece of pipe to fit over the oil cap without it touching the rib and yours looks like its sitting above the oil cap with a gap

I have just enough room to remove the oil cap and get a funnel in and close the bonnet and the rib is un-cut. Very close though it did originally rub on the plastic grommet that was still there in the rib from holding the old sound proofing up until removed.

I gave it a little more clearance with the mash hammer too just to be on the safe side :D The rib has a small depression in it now.

You don't need a kit all you need is a 2F Block a 3FE head and a good engine builder. The custom manifold from the headers would not suit left hand drive as you have steering that side as well as the break booster, so a slightly different approach would be required. The rest of the information is in the thread.

On the whole this is not a hard build by any means expensive yes but if asked would I do it again now I know the results over a V8 my answer is ever time no doubt at all it wipes the floor with any V8 version I have experienced for low down torque.

well i ended up having to chop it and i welded a piece of flattened 3" tube into it

i then remembered the early and late rocker covers are different in height so i must be running a early rocker cover hmmm

owell all clears now to get some 2.5" bends and do the piping

Well Awill4x4's magic with the welder is just that MAGIC and yours truly helping out BIG tks to TRIKFAB for the use of the work shop

4" Just a couple of brackets left to do.

So what about a kit for the air intake - amazing.

Matt, do you have any concerns with the low level exhaust outlet just thinking about the depth you get to at the effect of and stall when in deep.

Matt, not done much with thinwall but what do you call the spun donut thing and is it supplied already welded down the sides?

Nice welding, wish I could do that, like you I am lucky to know people with welding skills.

It's called a 4" donut :D

Awesome work Matt- and quick too!
Are you going to spraycan it black or powdercoat?

Thanks again for those parts yesterday.
My drivetrain is now in pieces.
Hoping to get it back together on tuesday.
Might be needing to find a transfer case after all:rolleyes:

First casualty

Head Gasket between 5 and 6

6 has ben running lean.

Hmmmmmm

I have to strip the head down :crybaby:

Well, if an extra pair of (unskilled) hands is any good to you, let me know- I am hopefully picking up the diff gaskets tomorrow, and have a meeting, but other than that am free this whole week. I can probably..... catch the train out:lol::crybaby:
I won't have much to do on mine until I find a T-case.
