Plumbing for the Tial wastegate.

You can see here in the above link how ideal the port just befor the throttle body is.

Intercooler is competed apart from its mounting which i will work out once the engine is complete.

Full details here Intercooler

"If I remember correctly there is another adjustment screw underneath that plug. Dang if I can remember what it does."

I *believe* that there is a screw facing the front of the engine (down the right side from your "plug" in the photo) that is a factory set adjustment screw to ball park the idle speed, kind of like a controlled vacuum leak (atleast on the NA market 3fe's). Not sure of the internal plumbing, not sure of any effects in your set-up.

Well it's that time of year again:D

Time to take a long weekend:D

One last run out for the old 2F:D

YEHHHHHH it's Vic WInch Challenge

This will be my 4th year in a row now with the 40 and the reason the original 2F was built. The new 2F-ETI arrives Monday December the 3rd I'm told:bounce:

I have so far to show for it. Best Carbi 4x4, 2x2nd place stage finishes, 1x3rd place stage finish and overall highest place 9th from the last 3 comps. Also I have driven every stage every year from start to finish:grinpimp:

This year for fun were going to compete on my 35" Pro Comp AT's at Yea and it's as dry as a nun's ****:D

Last year was a little wetter:whoops:

How is this working out?

I'm really thinking about doing this (less the turbo) in my FJ 45 Extended cab build. I have the 1984 2F and a 1989 3FE complete and still in the rig.

Dan

It's going well, but if your looking at doing it without the Turbo you can save a lot of money as well as use the 3FE's ECU.

The Engine should be completed on the 2 Dec, then it's time to start prepping it for installation early Jan

Well the verdict is in on the intercooler.

Flow of an unrestricted inlet 65mm/2.5"(straight tube) 400CFM

Flow through my inlet 390CFM 65mm/2.5"

Pressure drop 2% under vacuum, this I'm told will be less under positive pressure.

Now not understanding too much about this stuff I asked for an lay mans explanation:D

The reply was it flows as well as a ported and polished big block and has one of the lowest pressure drops he has ever seen in an intercooler:bounce:

Bought a few bits today.

Fuel pressure regulator and fittings for the fuel rail.

Trollhole would be proud.

The banjo fitting that came on the fuel pump has been replaced with a one way valve.

The new fuel inlet has replaced the all in one inlet/regulator and a new stand alone regulator will replace the regulator and damper which has been remove from the other end of the fuel rail.

All that's missing from the fuel system now is is a the surge tank, which will be fed by the original mechanical pump.

The old feed for the cold start injector will be blocked off as this is now obsolete.

Drilled and tapped the M14x1.5 thread for the air temp sensor that will run to the Wolf V500.

The Wolf V500 also has the option for electronic boost control so you can map and control the way the turbo boosts up in conjunction with the throttle position by controlling the wastegate, also stops wastegate creep.

Picked up the solenoid that the V500 uses to control the wastegate today so now I can map the boost coming on in conjunction with throttle position.

Also picked the fittings up for the Turbo

2 AN10 fittings for the oil return to the Sump, plus a fitting not shown to weld onto the sump.
4 AN6 fittings for water in and out as well as the connections for the other end.
Also ordered 2 AN3 for the oil feed, a hole will be drilled into the oil gallery in the block to feed the Turbo.

Where are you going to drill the oil galley hole?

I've seen a turbo setup where where he tapped into the oil cooler bolt.

What kind of oil pressure does a tubo need?

The main oil gallery runs full length of the block were tapping in here.

The oil feed for the Turbo seen below has a restrictor in it for roller bearing Turbo's from what I understand the journal bearing Turbo' need more oil. Mine been the roller bearing type. Poor photo but you can see the hole it's about 1mm o/d. The drain is however huge in comparison at AN10

The pump for cooling the intercooler will be one of these.

Davies Craig

Just ned to figure out which radiator and fan from the same company.

G'day Matt,
So when is the old girl getting the 2f removed??
Or have you done it already??

Wed 2nd Jan if the engine arrives on time, getting close now:bounce:

nice , great chrissy present . How did you place on the winch challenge? i just finished checking out the pics, looks like you had a good time.

Had a ball but only placed 30th very dry and fast conditions again this year the big boys toys only had to winch once the whole comp. The old 2F no match for the V8's and turbo intercooled trucks, which these days is everybody but me. Only 2 trucks ran leafs, me and an old Jeep with a Ford straight 6, oh and a Suzuki.

It will be interesting to see how we go if were ready for round one of the Engel Challenge with the new engine, March I think it is. I think round one will be at the same property again, if so and still as dry I will run the AT's again just to see how it compares.

Fittings for the Turbo in-situ, will have to wait untill it's fitted not to measure up for the steel braided hoses.
